Air Intake Install Guide
This following thread will describe the "Wheel off Method" of Installing an Intake, I'd recomend going to K&N's Website and downloading the PDF File which has some better pictures, I've Installed both a Injen and a K&N using this method, and its by far the easiest way to do it...
Also, If anyone has any additional pictures that I do not have, please e-mail them to me, so I can update the thread with more pictures, Sailin101@aol.com
Disclaimer: As with all DIY, please use caution when working on the car, and take your time with the Install, also CAI's do void part of the warranty, and I am not responsible for any mistakes made while following these instructions
CAI:
Factory Airbox:
Tools Needed:
Flat Edge Screwdriver
Phillips Screwdriver
Pliers
8" Extention
Rachet
10mm Socket
Step 1: Disconnect the Negative Battery Cable
Step 2: Disconnect the Air temperature sensor and all other hoses from the stock intake tube
Step 3: Loosen the two bolts on the Stock Air Cleaner, and the hose clamp at the throttle body, then carefully remove the factory airbox.
Step 3a: At this point, you can simply connect the Intake in Short Ram mode, attach the filer to the end of the shorter tube, and the other end to the Throttlebody, Figure3a at the Bottom of this thread shows an Intake in Short Ram mode.
Step 4: Using a Jack and Jack-stands, Jack up the Drivers side front wheel and remove it (Note: Its easier to loosen the lug-nuts while the cars on the ground still)
Step 5: Remove the "Foglight" Cover if you can, If you have Foglights leave them in, its not worth while to take them out... though its going to be harder to remove one of the bolts
Step 6:
Remove the two bolts and the three plastic rivets on the inter wheel wheel, peeling back the plastic.
Step 7: Loosen and remove the bolt that secures the air inlet tube to the resonator... this bolt is on the back side of the resonator, and is the bolt that is not labeled on the figure below.
Step 8: Loosen and remove the bolt that secures the resignator to the inner fender, Labeled above as "A". There are two ways to get this foward bolt, which I assure you is a pain in the @$$, The First method is to go in where the foglight was, What I did however was remove a few more of the snaps from the bumper, and peel it forward a bit, not removing it, but taking it about halfway off, here is a diagram of how the bumpers installed on the car, you only need to take off a few of these in order to reach the bolt.
Remember you want to remove both A's

This is what it will look like once removed
Step 9: run the longer tube up from under the bumper and through the hole where the resonator used to be. now connect the tubes together, and to the throttle body, Also take this time to secure the intake with the screws provided, and to reconnect all hoses
Step 10: Attach the Filter at the bottom of Intake tube
Step 11: Reassemble front bumper and reinstall the inner wheel cover, Then remount the wheel, torque the tire to factory specs (Tighten the hell out of em) and lower the car
Step 12: Reconnect the battery cable, And Enjoy :Mardi:

nice DIY
I just noticed this thread...you stole my pics! You should have just linked to my DIY.
BTW, (step 11) the proper torque spec for our wheel lugs is 65 ft. lbs. So, use a torque wrench, if you have access to one.

this got me to thinking... That TB looks pretty small. The 04's and 05's are both DBW, as is the 06, so I wonder if a TB swap from an 06 to an 05 would help breathing at all and whether or not it's a straight bolt-on. Bueller? Bueller?

Well, I have found stuff that says approx. 80 ft. lbs. is probably what it needs to be:
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/...jsp?techid=107 (good info)
http://www.rockfordcv.com/Acura_torque.htm (general Acura info)
However, the Acura TSX shop manual is the place to go for the correct info. Anybody got one, so we can know for sure?

A few questions
I finished the installation this afternoon with the help of this guide
B/c I had a foglight, I used "bumper off" method instead.
I found a leaf in the air box with filter lol. Everything went smooth except for one of the screws tightening the hose connecting throttle body was stuck, so I had to use some force to pull it out. And removing the bumper took some time due to some clips. During the process I broke a few clips.
I was amazed how dirty and how much dirt and water was in the area where the filter lies now which concerns me a bit. Is this normal?
A few more questions.
1. Can I buy those clips from Acura/Honda?
2. While I was removing the air inlet piping(?), I got rid of this (arrow in the picture) and didn't put it back on due to a broken clip. I assume the purpose of the plastic cover was to prevent something from entering the air pipings? Then I wouldn't need to put it back in there, rite? I didn't know it got air from this area.
3. I noticed I could see the filter from the top view with a flash light. Does it mean I can't really have any water under the hood which might come in contact with the filter?
I generally like the intake. It didn't sound loud at all and changed from mechanical? to more beastly. I like how it's lower growl. Moreover, my gf likes the new sound also.
I'll wait to post an impression till later on. B/c of the rain today, I didn't push the car very much.
Thanks

Good job...I'm glad this DIY helped!
#1 Any Honda/Acura dealer and various online Honda/Acura parts sites have them.
#2 No need to put it back in...I took mine out.
#3 Don't worry about the water...as long as you don't drive through flooded streets, put your water hose directly on it while cleaning your engine or drive through a river you will be fine. It's really nothing to worry about.
Funny story; I recently took my car in for an alignment job and the knuckleheads thought the air filter was missing! LOL

The shop manual states 108 N-m or 79.6 lbf-ft. In the past the manuals stated 80 lbf-ft. It is important to tighten them evenly to prevent warping of the rotors. Plus if you overtighten them then the threads can be 'melded' together the bolts distorted.

Does anyone have a closer pic of circled area:
The tube that comes from the block wouldn't bend straight, so I kind of had to force it. It fits snugly right now, but it's bent kind of like a < shape (not so drastically like a < though)
Some notes:
1. Taking the resonator out was a *****.
2. Took only about 1hr 30min. 30min of it trying to take out the resonator. (I got lazy to take off the wheels, that's probably why )

you replace the elbow with a straight pipe that comes with the intake, you shouldn't need to bend anything
