??? about TSX engine fans...

Hello everyone, I fairly new to Acura's. I just purchased a 2004 TSX; car is just awesome! I just have one thing that I'm kinda concerned about.

When the TSX is on, both engine fans run about every 25-35 seconds. Is this a common thing for Acura TSX's? The weather isn't hot at all.

Any comments on this would be great!

yes, just like in most cars, the fans will engage whenever the radiator runs above a certain temp. This is a pretty intermittent to constant action. Nothing to be alarmed about.

Thanks Peregrine!
I was just worried 'cuz I have never had a car do this before(every 25-35sec).

Once I start the TSX up in the morning it takes about 5min before the fans will kick on. And from there on the fans will run about every 25-35sec....

Thanks so much!

Sometimes the fans will run even after the car is shut down after a drive. Always keep your hands clear of the fans when the car is running AND after you shut it down when it is warm/hot beacuse they can start a any time.

No, I'm not have a problem when the car is off; well I don't even know if its a problem. But when I start the car the fan will kick on in about 5min tops. And after that it kicks on every 25-35sec.

Every Honda I've owned in the last 15 years worked the same way. As long as the temp gauge stays in the normal range (1/3 to 1/2 up the gauge) you will be operating within normal parameters.

The only problem I had was the fans on my 97 Accord turned on normally but they were not pulling enough air and the car was overheating at stop lights/slow moving traffic in the summer. Cost +$200 to fix the problem a few years ago when it had 110K on the odo.

Here's a rule of a thumb with anything connected to your cooling system (including fans) - if it's not leaking and it's not overheating, leave it alone
