Question Whining noise from engine after 10K service. Please Help!!!

Hi all,

My 2005 TSX 6MT had 10K service yesterday. After the service I hear new whining noise when the car is idle. It is loud enough that catches my attention.

I took the car back to the dealer today. They looked at the car for 15 min. and concluded that it is normal as they compared the sound with another TSX. In my opinion, something is wrong.

The noise seems to come from the engine block (see picture), but I am not 100% sure.

Please listen to the video clip and comment. (what you hear is not background noise, it is THE noise)

If you have similar experience or any comment, please reply and let me know of the solution.

Thanks a lot!

Another note: out of the 1:02 min. clip, you should be able to hear the whining noise pretty obviously when the counter is at ~40 second.

Please compare with you TSX if possible and comment.

Thanks!

I have the same problem right now, but it lasts 1 min at cold start. I will narrow it down to three possibility: too much oil, this new oil filter I'm trying, or maybe I ran over a cone yesterday and it got stuck under the vehicle for a bit and did some damage. I should also consider changing my transmission fluid also to see if thats the cause. Maybe it needs valves adjustment.
