Hondata Reflash
hey guys. i have a question for people who have experience with re-flashing (re-mapping) ecu's. i have stock tsx. i am thinking to add a bit more juice to it and looked into bolt on's (header, cat back exhaust systems and cai's) and re-flashing ecu. both is too much for me to handle. would just re-flashing be enough to experience some substancial power gain, or bolt on's are essential for the re-flashing to be highly effective? thanks for your answers.

Well first off option 1 (h/e/i) is way more expensive them option 2 (reflash).. so you might wanna see what your budget is.. ie the exhaust would be the same price as the reflash so id go with reflash.. or you can compare the headers/cai with the reflash but you cant do a direct comparsion since the prices are not equal.......

Unless you have an 05 automatic you can get the reflash.
It's the best bang for the buck power mod and you barely have to get your hands dirty to do it. It's around $600, I plan to get it pretty soon just for the hell of it. People say it makes their car run smoother too.

So can't you do this to an '05 auto? If not, why?

Because it's not available. Hondata hasn't cracked the 05 auto's ecu yet.
Back to the subject at hand, it really depends on what principles you have towards modding a car. Personally, I value bang for the buck however there are other members who take a very methodical approach to "freeing" up available power with available bolt-ons then undertaking ecu tuning to finish it off.

The hondata reflash assumes that you have I/H/E already. However, it's not necessary. People with stock cars have had positive gains.
From what I gather, you should do the reflash...it changes the character of the tsx's engine (makes it more fun to drive ;-)

One of the reasons I ditched my 05 auto...but mostly because it was auto.

Reflash lowers vtec engagement RPM which is a huge plus in my opinion.

Actually, you will be the only factor that make the gas mileage worst.... don't ask me why, ask yourself....
