How fast in 1st gear?
I could swear I read somewhere that the 6MT TSX can hit 60mph in 1st gear... now I have AT so I can't confirm that I've only been able to hit 45mph in 1st after bouncing off the limiter..... can a 6MT member confirm the max speed in 1st for a stock TSX?
Also if possible can you confirm in either kph or mph what each gear's approx max speed is?

I think i have my answer.. found this... I guess I read Acura geared the 6MT to hit 60mph in 2nd gear not 1st.
I ... 3.27 ... 4.8 ... 34 mph (7100 rpm)
II ... 1.88 ... 8.4 ... 60 mph (7100 rpm)
III ... 1.36 ... 11.7 ... 83 mph (7100 rpm)
IV ... 1.03 ... 15.4 ... 109 mph (7100 rpm)
V ... 0.83 ... 19.2 ... 133 mph (6950 rpm)
VI ... 0.66 ... 24.0 ... 133 mph (5550 rpm)
Guess that means you can hit a higher speed in an AT than a MT? Or maybe the same if you bring it up to the limiter.

1st gears are made short to sprint faster... unless your car has alot of power like a supercar, a 1st gear that can hit 60mph will cause ur car to be really slow lol.

The S2000 has a 6MT ratio of:
Type 6-Speed Manual
Final Drive 4.10:1
1st Gear Ratio 3.12:1
2nd Gear Ratio 2.05:1
3rd Gear Ratio 1.48:1
4th Gear Ratio 1.16:1
5th Gear Ratio 0.97:1
6th Gear Ratio 0.81:1
Since the 1st gear ratio is smaller than the TSX 6MT does that mean the S will hit readline @ a slower speed than the TSX?

no. I'm pretty sure the final drive is different between the two trannies, and you always have to take that into account.

1st gear in most street cars is 35 so that city driving is more bearable.
140in a tsx? wtf could've sworn the limit was 129.

When I am driving "mellow", I typically shift around 4K rpm. I am needing a little more haste, I shift at 5K. If I need all she's got, I have no problem cracking off shifts at my Hondatafied 7,500 rpm redline.
Remember, a four cylinder engine will typically need revs to build power, so you will not kill your motor by exercising the tach. Hell, Honda is telling you to rev it by placing the VTEC switchover at 6K, and they gave us such a wonderful tranny with which to do that.
So, to answer your question: Yes, you are being too careful.

hahah yes... i agree with eljefe68 110% hahaha
but i dont know if i do it to much
i redline ALL the time like id ont know... i JUST LOVE driving in high rev zone...
every redlight ill redline, every curves and turns ill down shift and get it into 5000rpm zone and redline out of it
and ive only had my car for 2 months and wore out so much tread on my tires and my friend has new tires that he had for about 4+months and has no sign of worn hahah
"You krazy, going that fast and taking a picture at the same time."
and yes i found it quite difficult to take the picture because my phone was in my right pocket and tryin to reach for it while driving that fast is KINDA hard hahaha and tring to pay attention to the road with cars flying by you lol

IMO it doesnt take that much for normal driving. depending on the posted speed limit i either shift at 3k for limits above 50 and 2.5k if the limit is below 50 (except for 1st due to a tall 2nd gear). shifting like that i get great gas milage and keep up with other cars when the red light turns. I'm not saying either is right or wrong. IMO its personal driving style. just drive how you feel comfortable. after all, its more of a luxury car than a sports car.
