Best Mod for Increase of Torque? (aside from a Turbo)
So I plan on getting a TSX and I'm pretty impressed with the car.
But I know there's good ways to increase torque. I don't really need more HP, as I don't plan on driving a steady 120MPH ever, nor do I plan on towing anything ... but some added low-end torque for quicker acceleration would be nice.
Best ideas?

Hondata's your best bet Id say, unfortunately being a honda the cars got more high rev power then low end torque, there is not really much that can fix that, the ratio stays that way, however Hondata (or a comptech Supercharger) boosts both, and does give you quite a bit more low end umph
Also, where on Long Island are ya?

There is no way Acura can prove or disprove a Hondata reflash of your ECU, unless you tell them. The engine will still perform well within its operational parameters it was design for. Even adding a Comptech supercharger ($4-5K, 60-70hp, 35-45lbs/tq) will not cause problems for the TSX.
The 6MT would be a better choice for power and acceleration with the reflash and/or supercharger.

i'm definitely going to get 6MT
how do you go about flashing to hondata?
If they can't prove it, I don't see why not do it.

Well the thing about Hondata is you actually have the remove the ECU and imobilizer from the car, and then send it to Hondata in California, so your cars MIA for a few days, however when you get the ECU back, its something like 25 HP, 20 Ft Lbs of torque, Redline is moved up to 7500 rpms, and Vtec starts at only 5k rather then 6

Note that those 20+ hp/tq gains are the peak gains at a certain RPM.

well yes i just meant the peak gains, however Hondata does exibit gains all the way through, its got a much better torque curve
Here is the Dyno for the 06 TSX MT

reflash before i die plz

i really wish there was a reflash for the 07.
does anyone know how much fuel efficiency declines for the car since the vtec point is lowered?

I actually dont think its that bad, except for the fact that youll end up pushing the car harder
thats a problem with most mods actually, an Intake and Headers will theoretically improve gas milage, except chances are youll drive harder

Hondata is the best way to improve acceleration in a TSX. The overall HP/Tq is about the same; but, the reflash smoothes out the torque power band and gives you harder acceleration longer because there is little drop in hp/tq when you need it most.
A Stock TSX with reflash ($600) will beat a mod TSX with high flow intake/headers/cat/exhaust ($1200-$2200).
The dip in the green dotted line is the reflashed TSX going into iVTEC at 4750 rpms compared to 6000 rmps on the green solid line.
