Comptech is back in production! :)

...so i called Comptech today and spoke with a guy named ryan, a really nice guy he said that for the first batch of TSX icebox intakes they are only making 5, they should ship out in 2weeks. The next batch will again be 5, 2 weeks after that. The product is exactly the same as the previous year's.

So far 8 people (including me) reserved them. Ryan said that most likely i will get one of the ones from the first batch because most likely a few a dealer ordered, and they ship them to the individual before they ship to dealers. the price is the same as listed on the website, $169+ shipping.

just thought id let you all know

Is it possible to order it directly from them? I know on their website, you need to meet a minimum price to order from them. I think I had to pop in over 20 super charger kits to get their website to allow me to checkout lol

The Icebox is made up of a lid, intake horn, and airfilter that work with the stock airbox. As such, it must be cheaper to produce than metal tubes and couplers that Fujita and Injen use.

bumper removal method is the best. when i installed it, my friends and i tried an evasive approach, but we couldn't get the resonator out b/c of the one bolt that's difficult to get to (aka the bitch bolt).

we tried it again the next weekend by removing the bumper, and it was simple. you just have to keep track of all the tabs/screws/bolts, make sure you have your bumper far from your work and on top of something soft so it's not scratched.

one thing to note is that a lot of people think the comptech foam filter is rather cheap. i thought it was too, although you may find some people who think it's decent. because it's kinda cheap, a lot of people opt to use the K&N drop-in filter. the problem is the filter fits in the stock airbox perfectly, but b/c the comptech box is larger, the seal isn't airtight. this will cause your car to emit loud noises from the engine as well as take in unfiltered air. a solution some members have done is to line the edge of the comptech lid w/ weather seal strips (one long strip around the edge) so that when you tighten it down, the seal compresses on the filter to make a tighter seal.

you can rely on any diys on the site (ie. CAI installs, bumper removals) or even instructions from comptech or K&N on how to remove the bumper. the resonator on 06/07's is just a tad different than the 04/05's. i have some pics up on the 'other' forum.

Thank you xjohnkdoex, i may end up removing the bumper i would just like to avoid this method if possible. Thanks for the info, ill check the other site for your post....

iv seen some posts that say use foam filter, others that say use k&n, it seems kind of divided, i may stick with the foam for now...

keep the tanabe. i think it's better than the comptech exhaust. plus, you can use it w/ an aftermarket rear sway bar.
