breaking in

alright, so what EXACTLY is considered "breaking in" for the TSX????
The dealer told me that i shouldn't be "babying" the car too much, because it's just gonna get used to that style of driving in the long run.
I'm reading other people saying that its 1,000 miles, etc. so I really don't know what to believe.
I'm currently sitting at 370 miles, and I haven't redlined it, but i've been driving on highways alot, (70-80mph),....is that considered alright for the "breaking in-process", if there even is one?
how would you define "breaking-in" for the TSX?

Just drive the car normally these new engines really dont need much breaking in any more like the old days. The day I got my car I took it on a 2 hour drive to AC and im at 27000 miles now and every thing is all good.

If the vehicle still has its breaking-in motor oil from the dealership, I would still consider it breaking in period. When I had my R6, I took great care in watching the speed and rpm until the first oil change and even then, the shop told me not to switch to synthetic yet beacuse it was still breaking in (3000 miles). But that's just me.

breaking in these days with our current engines, is just a case of having the pistonrings settle, you don't want be soft, or else the will be to loose ( will result in higher oil use ), and you don't want be hard, because this will cause the rings to expand to much ( giving the pistons a harder time to travel up and down ). that's only the first 50 miles or so. after that the first 600 miles are ment for settling the car with a specific drivingstyle ( yours ), but keep in mind that your oil consumption depends on how you do this, still i advise not push it too hard. keep your speed and gear variated. not always 60mph in 6, just put it in 5th occasionally. sure you can take her up the redline, but do make sure your engine is warmed up nicely, and don't make it a daily thing. after those first 600 miles your baby engine will become a boy engine and you could spank it some more.

my breaking in period on my 06 tsx was driving the car from PA where i purchased it back to NC where I live-approx. 700 miles. when I bought the car it had 138 miles on it as they had to get it from another dealer. it is now 8 months old with 19,000+miles.
