Comptech icebox install problem
If anyone here has the comptech Icebox, let me know what you did in this case.
I installed my icebox today (sort of a pain in the ass). The last thing I had to do was screw down the cover but I have one problem, there's no bolts.
I removed the bolts from the old cover, but unless I'm doing something wrong, they don't fit. I took them out of the sleeves they came in (so they don't get away from the lid), and then tried to put them in the new case cover, but they aren't long enough (I think).
Making sure that comptech didn't include new bolts, I looked at the install instructions; 2 metal bands, cover, air filter, j shaped intake, intake extender, metal bracket, and that's all.
And ideas? I'm driving with it as it is (taking it easy), but don't want to push my luck much.
This is my first car mod (ever), and on my new TSX, I would like it to work well. I appreciate anyone's help
Oh, and for anyone who doesn't say it's loud. BS. I can definitely hear it. Maybe it's not loud compared to a CAI (or whatever), but I know it's there.

reflash before i die plz

i'm pretty sure it should've come with bolts already in the lid, but i could be mistaken.
all the comparisons with loudness are relative. you're right. it's not as loud as a CAI. but it is louder than stock.

The CT Icebox only comes with the gromits in the cover. You re-use the old OEM screws. You may need to push down on the cover a little. Are you using the CT foam air filter?

Yes, I'm using the foam cover and everything that came with the kit.
I'll give it a try tomorrow. I guess if I can't get the bolts to work (I'll try like crazy), I'll just use the stock cover.
I also emailed the dealer who sent me the kit to make sure they sent me the right one.
Is the Icebox cover a lot larger (taller) then stock?

The box is larger but the height of the plastic lip at the bottom where the screws attach doesn't seem to be much larger than stock. Is your stock inlet pipe mounted flush against the box. And did you remove the spring clamp around the stock inlet?
Post pictures, it might be helpful.

Thanks for everyone's help.
What I eventually did was to remove the (don't know what you call them) silver retaining jackets (that hold the bolts in so they don't get away) from the comptech cover, and replace them with the retaining jackets from the stock cover.
They fit, with some enticing, and cursing. Now the bolts screw in, and everything seems like a very close, but good, fit.
And I think I can feel (and definitely hear) the difference. It's kind of a cool, loud growl. $150 well spent. Next up, Hondata.

One other thing I thought was odd, I had to remove the battery retaining clip/handle so I could fit the Comptech cover in. Or at least, I thought I had to. I tried to shimmy it in a bunch of ways, but it just seemed to large.
Anyone else have this problem?

The install is a tight fit especially since the intake tube is somewhat restrained by the sensors, etc. BTW I also had to purchase a 8" long phillips screwdriver so I could screw in the top left screw which is pretty far below the cover and in a tight spot.

Hey for did you guys receive both a Comptech cover AND bottom? The instructions I have only mention a cover, but I sure that I received a whole new intake box bottom as well as the cover, filter, horn and hose clamps.

CT icebox uses the OEM bottom half of the box. The first page of the instructions has a parts list and shows pictures of all of the included items. Can you post a picture of the bottom that you write of?

I must have been mistaken, seeing that once I went to install it I saw I only had the top. I dont know where I got that Idea from. Thanks anyway.
