just wanted to know what is the normal iddle speed for a 2004 tsx automatic transmission, mine has been inconsistant lately, just under normal iddle it is at 800rpm and then other times between 600 and 700 rpm, any info on this.
Thanks.

Usually 800 rpm. On cold mornings it will idle higher until reaching a certain temperature.
Yours seems to be idling fine the way it is so no worries.

I think it can vary if you do something, such as turn the steering wheel a little at a stop. The rpms might change a little then. I can't think of anything else that would change the engine speed at operating temps

Most of the time I see mine where I think is around 650 - 700 rpm when idle - and with engine warmed up.

I'm not sure what kinda of idle air system this engine uses, but on older hondas if the idle air valve got dirty or sticky it could cause idle probelms as the engine isnt getting enough air sometimes..

That is also something I have seen in other cars. You could also clean the intake butterfly valve to help the situation.

The k20a2 is set 750+ or - 50 from factory, the higher the rpm the higher the base line.(i.e. cut off 7100 idle 700+or -50 )
Its hard to know your exact rpm unless your hooked to apexi or some other rpm device.

it could be your a/c compressor turning on and off, causing a slight drain from the engine. The car will turn it on and off as needed to maintain your specified temperature.
