SS mode downshift from 2nd to 1st
hey. for the people that have automatic and use SS does anyone know why from shifting from 2nd to 1st you have to be going 30mph or below to shift? Because it's not like the rpms jump when i shift from 2nd to first at 30mph. I'm not sure if it's my car or maybe it does that because it's preventing damage to the engine. thanks

It's probably a preventative measure and an efficiency measure. You don't need to be in 1st gear if you are going 30mph or faster, its just a waste of gas and engine life. And if you are using SS for engine breaking, 1st gear might become damaged at higher speeds.

It does it to prevent damage. And why would you downshift from 2nd to 1st going that fast?

You know that it automatically goes to first when you're on a complete stop right?

Deff don't do that. Your car bucks down and then you grab the gear. I think in any trans, your not recommended to do a 2-1 shift. Also, you have to be doing less then 30 MPH because if your over, the engine can rev over redline, and bye bye K24A2.

use your 1st as starting gear, and slowing down once you get around 30 i hit it to 2nd and coast until about 5mph, then hit it to first. engine does not like to be in first that long, you'll feel that huge jolt and you will look like an idiot goin to first from 3rd at 30mph

engine braking with 1st gear is redundant.

I don't know if it always drops back into 1st when coming to complete stop. I have seen where if I start in 2nd from a red light on snowy days when I come to the next light it will stay in 2nd when I am at a complete stop.

It sometimes hangs in gear cuz you didn't do a full stop, so its keeping in gear since you might be rolling still.
Even downshifting is alright, but 2nd to first im sure everyone feels something is going to break when doing so.
