Intake and Exhaust
Hey guys,
Question, what are the benefits of the exhaust and intake?
I've been reading so many different brands and whatnot,I'm kind of flustered.
would you guys recommend a short ram, or a CAI?
I live on the east coast so the weather changes from snow to rain.
also, what kind of exhaust would you recommend?
(I'm really looking for something that isn't too "ricey", not too loud, but just enough....something like the infiniti G35, get me?)
p.s.
I have a 2007 at

I get what you mean by the G35. Excellent exhaust system.
It's all a matter of preference. I personally like the Injen Intake.
As for exhaust, go to youtube and search around for TSX exhaust systems. The quality of the videos may not be great, but it's the best you can do besides reading.
Good luck and I hope you find what you want!

I'd highly recommend the Gredey SP2 for your exhaust and I know that many of the board members here are running the Injen MR CAI. The sound and tone the SP2 gives off is really nice. Not loud at all and the tips looks really good. They're not as big in size in comparison to many of the exhaust available for our cars. Good luck with your mode and post up pics of progression.

No, you will not be able to get that sound unless you buy a G35 or 350Z.

If you add 2 More cylinder to the engine, and get tuned by Nissan, then you will get that G35 sound. I'm serious, I have GreddySP2 + all the mods @ my sig and it's NO WHERE near G35 sound, it NEVER will be unless you purchase a G35. Period.

It's going to be more money, but it's a great exhaust from what I read. Injen intake is deff worth it. I'm going to pick one up ion a month or so.
Maybe someone can help both of us. If we replace just the cat, with a test pipe...how would the sound and performance change? Our cat-backs are great as far a flowingness (sp?) but the sound could be better. I would assume a test pipe would be right up that alley as far as sound. Anyone know anything about this?

The Comptech Icebox, does not make sounds at all. If it does, only the cabin can hear it, not outside. I've drove Andy's TSX like 10 times w/ Comptech Icebox/header + SP2, it's nowhere as loud as Injen CAI/DC Header + HFC + SP2. The Comptech will growl @ upper rpm, but still very subtle, think stock.
Overall, the TSX does not has a sexy engine note compare to those VQ35. This is obvious especially @ low rpm (below 4K), however, if you can stick in high rpm (above 4K) alot of time (think track), it does sounds sexy.
Testpipe will definity increase performance over stock cat, but only minor/or none gain on High-flow cat. If your States is strict on emmission, stick w/ High-flow cat. 1-2hp gain will not be detect w/ ya butt dyno, but will get you big tickets if you are in trouble.

What do you all think about Exhaust wrapping? Like wrapping the Headers with a special wrap? Is it good to do? Do you think it would solve the Comptech Header rattle?

What the wrap is designed to to do, is to keep the heat that it disperses to a minimum.

When minimum heat can disperses from the header, it wll create more heat inside; thus to help exhaust gas rush thru the exhaust system better. Turbo & Fully build N/A vehicle needs it for track purpose; there's no need for DD or mildly mod car.
