Comptech or SP2???

I'm stuck between picking one out of these two... mainly for the quietness yet deep sophisticated growl .... Comptech or Greddy SP2
and i don't really like grapefruit launcher tips, hahah

I'm in Canada so getting one of these at a "cheap" price is obviously a lot harder....

i've heard sound clips of both, and they are both equally appealing...

Just want some feed back from the rest of you.. pros, cons, recommendations...

I'm more of a fan with comptech,

beware of sp2 their tips might melt your rear lip since its really close to the body.

1) It sounds like you already prefer Comptech
2) The sp2 was discontinued for the TSX the last I heard
3) Comptech > Greddy in terms of quality, so you are getting what you pay for
4) As said above, the sp2 has melted at least one user's rear lip. My friend with a 7G Accord Coupe has the same issue. Fitment is iffy at best w/ the sp2. EVO2 on the other hand I have heard nothing but good things about. However, if the SP2 is a grapefruit launcher, the EVO2 can shoot pumpkins.

Are you mentioning my rear lip? The melting has nothing to do w/ the SP2, rather that's the exhaust hanger problem. If you have check out my pictures, the passenger side is slight higher, hence the smoke. But it's not even melting on rear lip, lol. I've fixed it since, and my OEM rear lip has painted like 06+ w/ a black diffusor look @ the bottom, no more smoke burn mark since.

Comptech > Greddy? I doubt it...

Fitting is iffy? Did you have the SP2? I wonder what makes you describe iffy?

The EVO2 and SP2 are almost the same, other than the noise, and the tip. Even the EVO2 has the hanger problem? So how does EVO2 > SP2? If you check other non-TSX forum, SP2 are all over EVO2 due to its stealth design, low noise, + fair growl @ high rpm characteristic...

Hey buddy, I'm just going by what I'd read. And now that I know your situation, that changes things a bit, since you were one of the people who had the melting issue. I'm sure the SP2's a fine exhaust. The ones I've heard sound great. But they're not without their issues.

Could you explain the "exhaust hanger problem"? If the OEM exhaust fits perfectly on the stock hangers, and you install an aftermarket exhaust which does not fit properly without modification (to either the hangers, the bumper, the exhaust, or anything else), I describe that as iffy fitment.

the sp2 has melting issues with the plastic underpiece under the trunk. it really isnt a big deal. ive had the exhaust on for a few months and i like it, its a smooth deep toned exhaust, it looks good (not too flashy like the evo2). the sounds are almost similar, i cant really tell the difference and i have the evo2 on now. its really a matter of preference. sucks that both comptech and greddy discontinued those exhausts. fyi, the new evo2's for the tsx will not have the melting issue anymore

Just my opinion of owning the Evo2 so called v1.. I did not have much of a problem with the melting issue.. as many can see during a previous tsx meet where Crazy_azn was refering about Chusons "old" problem from his SP2..

Wasnt aware alot of ppl were having this melting problem.. and now that i removed my exhaust i saw black marks because first its dirty which I wiped off (PWP cars tend to get dirty) and second my exhaust was positioned a little more in compared to some cars IE: Chusons and Crazy_Azns..so maybe it depends how its positioned I dunno because I am not a mechanic or anything..

Also like vortec mentioned I am selling my evo 2 exhaust.

Below is the pic that was taken during that meet of my exhaust and lip part.. many can be witnesses, a picture of CHusons rear lip wasnt taken so you can t compare but alot of ppl were shocked that day of how bad it was in our own respective opinions (along with his windshield that was cracked really badly):

Hope this helps whom ever is looking at the Evo2 exhaust...

Yeh, the "smoked" up rear lip wasn't that great to show, so no picture during that time. I will see if I can take a new picture of how it looks right now.

Finally replaced my windshield in last Oct, I can tell the quality is above those stupid OEM glass. Have been hit by on-coming flying stone to the windshield a couple times on the hwy and it still hasn't crack yet, not even a mark. Good job from Thornhill tints.

I dont think the OEM glass is in any way inferior. YOu just got unluck and got hit by a rough edged rock or debris of some sort. If it was, then we'll hear more stories of broken/cracked windshields.

True. But somehow, the OEM glass left marks on every single debris fly-by or stone chipped everytime, so far the replacement glass is still perfect thru out the winter.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a quick answer for this one, and have had mixed replies elsewhere...

How many models of the comptech exhaust is there??? isn't there just 1 : and they fit all models from 2004-2008??

This 1 dealer is telling me his version is only for 2004-2005....

Thanks
