Injen SP Series Cold Air Intake

hey!
after my last post
i had just ordered the Injen SP Series Cold Air Intake.
Good buy?

anyway, I'm just really concerned with the whole "water getting sucked in" issue. any comments on that?

I got the Injen MR CAI and its working nicely. I haven't used it in its SRI form. I hope to get better torque out of it when i transform it for next friday's drag meet at Qualcomm. I should also be running the NST pulley kit if shipping times permit.

as for the water lock issue...if you aren't driving in rain all the time like those in Washington State for example, then its not an issue. I know people that are very worried about this issue and they will change there intake to SRI form if they know a storm is on the way(granted you have an intake that can transform from CAI to SRI). I'd say the only real hazard is if you hit a puddle where the filter would be submerged in the puddle. then you got problems. I have a Hydroshield just for a warm and fuzzy but even then its not a huge neccesity.

Get the Hydroshield to be safe and let your engine breath some Cold air and you'll be just fine.

What do you mean good buy? In terms of price or performance or looks?

NO. You won't hydrolock your engine if you are NOT stupid.

As long as you don't REV (floor the throttle) over a large paddle of water, you will be fine. Besides, who do that in big rain?? I live in Toronto where there's rain in summer; and snow/slush in winter, never had a problem w/ proper driving.

might've made more sense to ask these questions before you bought the intake.

just saying.

hydrolocking an engine is not really an issue unless you go all fool and drive through deep puddles of standing water. Where the filter is located on our cars with a CAI and with the plastic skirt that is attached to the bottom of the bumper, you have to drive through at least a 10 inch deep puddle at decent speed to even risk the chance of hydrolocking the engine.
