CAI or Hondata

Which would you do first, the Injen CAI or Hondata. I could do the Injen right now or wait til the end of the year for Hondata.

Injen intake = nice sound, can actually hear vtec, little more power

Hondata reflash = 28+ hp, ~20+ ft/lb tq., earlier vtec engagement, higher red line, and a smoother power band.

they are both really nice mods and give a lot to the car. but to answer your question, i wish i went with reflash first. but the intake was affordable and i was impatient.

What year TSX do you have?

both, but if i had to pick, hondata.

hondata notes that the k-series manifold gets really hot and recommends a CAI of some sort. so it's best to have both mods, but you can get away without the CAI. hondata runs fine on a stock car.

It is a 3rd party ECU reflash for the TSX (and other cars). It improves performance without having to change any parts, just how the engine is managed, electronically.

Check out hondata.com. It will involve you finding a dealer, and having your ECU sent out, and it costs about $600, but from the reviews, it's very much worth it.

i'll say, since u can do CAI now, just do CAI, wait till the end of the year, you'll have enough $$ for hondata again.

better mpg? not for my car, and from what i hear not for anyone elses either..

if you go with a CAI first, and it looks like you are planning on getting an Injen which is a good choice, you'll think you're driving an entirely different car once you hear the way it sounds with the CAI on there. damn is it sexy.

is that because you are driving harder to hear the cai??

Do people actually get better MPG while driving normally?

When I first put my CAI in sure I drove harder to hear it... on that first tank of gas. I drive normally and I still get slightly less mpg than before, but not by much. I was just surprised to see someone saying that they got better mpg. if its true then cool, wish mine was too lol

You still probably drive harder than before. Now after having it for a couple months I drive normal again and I get about 1-2 mpg more it seems.

I would wait to get the hondata but if you can't wait that long, go for the intake.

i get better MPG with my CAI! i mean, obvously for most people their MPG goes down becuase they are at WOT so they can hear their intake, but if u are driving normally, the car has great MPG... 60 KPH in 4 gear is the sweet spot

why not the same speed in 6th? wouldnt having it at the lower rpm give you better mpg?

anyways. my mpg isn't better but it isn't worse either. after the first tank and loving the sound it makes I went back to driving normally. I've been getting about the same mpg as before... and i know it gets excellent mpg, it always has.
