Headers/Exhaust

Hey yall.
I've chosen the Greddy Evo2 for my exhaust.
My TSX is a 04 Automatic.
I've heard that new headers on the autos vibrate and shake a lot.
Is that true?
Should i get new headers when I get an exhaust?
Will it make a difference in performance/sound?
Do yall recommend getting new headers with an after market exhaust?
Thanks guys

You will hear a difference from your exhaust, probably louder. However, you won't see much gain from it. A header will give you performance gain, and shift the tone accordingly.

DC - Does not vibrate, flex-pipe swap will solve the cracking problem.

Comptech - Does vibrate, overall better build quality but twice the price of DC.

I don't recommend e-bay header, if you have a wise budget, go for race header, such as Toda/ Maxim/ Hytech etc. These type of header will give you REAL gain compare to DC/Comptech. Price is over $1K for sure.

ATX-TX Speed is neutral and has a clean balanced record.

I had the Topspeed header(DC knock off) for about a year before the flexpipe started to leak. Swapped to CT and love the difference in quality and it has better top end. DC, TS are best suited for AT cars and CT is better for MT cars. If you are willing to swap out flex pipes I'll sell you my old TS header for cheap.

Hey ATX-Tx Speed, I wonder if you have any issue with the rattle on CT header? I only know that AT does give the rattle with CT header. How do you like CT header perferomance? I am considering to get a header for my 04 MT TSX but not sure which one. I also wonder how do you like NST pulley kit? I also consider too ha but I am not sure about UR and NST kit that I want to buy it.

Thanks,
George

hm... Did you run a dyno on both header? Because the dyno show no differences from these 2 header, not identically the same curve but a undetectable differences.

No, I didn't run back to back dynos except on the butt dyno. After a year of the TS header I got used to it, but the last couple months it had a serious exhaust leak which made it sound like hell and I can only conclude affected performance. Imagine going from a header w/ serious flexpipe crack to a beautiful new CT header, of course there will be a smidge of placebo affect working. If I ever get enough time, between family & work, I'll fix the flexpipe on the TS and dyno them back to back. But before I do that I will have to spend some $$$ on more mods instead of fixining broken ones.

Since you got the CT, forget about the TS. I had the DC w/ exhaust leak (gasket broken) and flexpipe cracked. After fixing it w/ a high quality flexpipe, it feels day and night especially the low rpm range. But of course, there's nothing special about it since it was suppose to "function" like that.
