CEL with no cat?

I have looked around a little and cant find a straight answer on whether or not if i delete the cat on my exhaust if i will throw a CEL because the second O2 sensor is not reading a change in the exhaust in what would be "after the cat". Has anyone ran a straight through no cat exhaust, and if you have did you run into any issues. I dont have to comply with emissions because i am registered in AZ so that isnt a problem. but i dont want to look at a friggin CEL because i dont have a cat. I am looking to delete my cat and all of the additional mufflers with the exception of the ones out back. Please help me out.

Can I ask why?

You can run a straight pipe (testpipe) w/ cat-back exhaust, and use a O2 defouler to trick it but not guarantee.

This is just a 4 cylinder car no matter what you did to the exhaust it won't gain you much, plus you are adding pollution to the god damn beautiful earth.

Plus you will not gain much more, if any over a high flow cat like a RT bolt-on.

If you buy the T1R test pipe, it comes with a defouler which usually prevents the CEL from showing.

get a defouler.. they do work... go with a t1r test pipe..

before and after... shows nice gains compared to most bolt ons =] especially on low end.

A high flow cat will do the same too. And he's talking about taking off the CAT + other resonator in between?

I just got my T1R in today. Ended up taking it to a local 'quick oil change' place and had them install it for 15 bucks after hours. It came with the defouler and so far I don't have a CEL light. It's deffintiely the way to go.

BTW, this was installed on a race car and not an auto used on public roadways.

Those are some decent numbers... I think i may go with that now, but the only T1R test pipe that i have seen said that it was for JDM cars only.... Is that the one you used, or is there a USDM one out there. Appreciate your post. And thanks for the input everyone.

t1r test pipe added to my list of "to do" mods.

you guys getting funky smells in the cabin while driving?

anyone in canada running this set-up? i'd like to know if this will pass emissions testing.

I'm pretty sure a test pipe will not pass drive-clean, you'll have to revert to stock for the test.
