Grinding Gears
Im just wonder if there are people on here that track their cars, and if so, did you have a problem with grinding gears after that. Ive been to the track 3 times, and second gear has decided that it doesnt want to be used. the last time i was at the track, i missed second gear soo bad it just wouldnt go in even after letting off on the gas. i had to go into 3rd and then back to 2nd. now since the track, even while driving regularly, trying to shift to 2nd and itd wont go in, or it grinds. so when i am stopped at a light, i shift from 1-2 and 2-1 back and forth to line up the synchro's so i dont screw my tranny.
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem, even if you dont track your car...

Chances are that if your are having these issues, you have already screwed up your transmission. Change MTF and see if that helps.

Been to a number of full track days and the quarter-mile track, no grinding.

might want to check to see if your clutch is going bad. How many miles are on the car?

Do you drive the car hard somewhat often or only at the track? In the past i have driven my cars pretty hard typically, and they usually start to grind second, then third. but that was when i used to drive the pure sh*t out of my cars 24/7. I try not to do that now, but i am still noticing that the trans of my TSX isnt as smooth as when i bought it, so i am trying to take it easy now. But then again i about it with 90k on it too... *shrugs*

Dont quote me on this as i am no transmission expert, but i am pretty sure that that is 100% doing absolutely nothing. because as soon as you let the clutch out and the output shaft starts to spin again, the syncros are going to have to re-align themselves when you go to shift into second from first.
What i did when my accord trans started to give me trouble was i started Rev-Matching my gears. Not trying to insult your intelligence if you do know what it is... we all know that if you are doing 4k in first gear that will be 2k (example only) in second, so if you wait until the rpms fall to 2k or use the gas to get the rpms to 2k then your gears will already be lined up without even using your syncros, and will fall right into gear. In doing that you are essentially taking the syncros out of the picture because you are putting the transmission at the right speed anyway. so you can actually drive the car if the syncros were completely shot, in fact old vehicles like old ass dumptrucks and stuff dont have syncros and that is how you actually have to shift them.
