Swapping ECU?
I have come across an opportunity to swap my stock 6MT Cdn. ECU for a 6MT Cdn Hondata ECU for a good price. I'm just wondering if there are any potential problems that could emerge when changing the ecu entirely? Also, is there a way to verify that an ECU has hondata already? I'm just thinking that I may be psyched about the reflash, expect all these changes, but it could be all in my head..thanks for any help u guys can give me.

hmmm...that's a tough one. Is there any way you could tell how reliable the seller is? If he's got a good reputation and the price is good, I would say go for it. Everyone says the reflash is a night and day difference so you should be able to tell right away. Also, if you're giving him your ECU, you'll probably be putting the new one in right away. Just ask him if you can take it for a spin before you give him the cash.

U have to take the new ECU to the dealer and have your keys and immobilized synced to the ECU. DO NOT sync ECU with keys/ immobilizer, sync everything to it... I dont know of any way to tell if there is a reflash on it just by looking

Could you please clarify? I don't understand the difference between getting the keys and immobilizer synced to the ECU OR syncing the ECU with the keys and immobilizer? Both will have the same result wouldn't it?

Syncing essentially means reflashing. If dealer reflashes the ECU that was reflashed by Hondata, they will just program it back to stock. At least thats what they told me at the dealership over the phone.
