K&N intake options...please read and give feedback

Alright, so I dont want to do a CAI just yet, for warranty and budget related reasons, so I was looking at my DIY/ ghetto mod options. With an intake resonator delete, airbox debaffle and a K&N replacement filter(said to make 2-4hp) those mods seem comparable to a K&N typhoon which makes 4.18hp. Now i dont know what the gains are for injen, etc. but if those mods plus the drop in makes almost as much as a Typhoon, it seems like a good call, right? Same performance(almost), less cost, just less aesthetically pleasing... Any thoughts?

and before you tell me to search...I did. Intake threads always seem to go back to Injen, Fujita, and Icebox... I want your thoughts on K&N.

I had that set up, mate. It is not bad, really. What I loved the most was NO harassment from cops LOL. The power gain that K&N honestly claims is just about right for a stock car. Sorry, but Injen simply lies about 10-12 HP gains ( Unless u got stage 2 cams). My set up made a pretty noticeable difference. Good luck finding your path for intake mod !

for warranty reasons, I don't think the placement of an intake will void that. I had work done to my car with the intake in it and they didn't care about that. The K&N drop in will work, and keep your car sounding stock combined with the resonator removal which was a pain. I personally have the typhoon intake and it gets real loud in the higher rpm, esp. now that I have the reflash it sounds even more so like an elephant. I don't think it really matters what intake you get, injen fujita etc, the HP you get will be a difference like +/- 2-3? I like the sound the intake makes thats why I got that instead of like a comptech icebox.
