exhaust system question
What's the best cat-back system foe an 06 that doesn't attract too much attention but also performs well?

APEXI WS2 is a great exhaust that's not too loud. The tanabes are also not super loud. Comptech has a nice deep tone but it drones a little and is a bit louder.
06 exhaust is the same as 04-08.

I don't really think there is a clear cut best option. It depends on what kind of sound you are looking for or what style exhaust do you prefer. Alot of people have Greddy, Tanabe, T1R, Comptech, etc. Do you want to keep the dual setup or go to a single exhaust? I personally have the Vibrant streetpower system. It was the first thing that I bought for my car and it is still in the garage 1 year later. I don't know if I want the added attention of the exhaust so it just sits LOL. Just do some research watch you tube clips for sound look at what style you prefer. Let us know what you end up going with.

+1, I'm not that into the exhaust b/c the gains are not too significant, the price on the WS2 is pretty high up there, I don't want unnecessary attention to my car

Why would u upgrade stock exhaust?- That is the most important question...
If u want it to perform well, dont bother buying a cat-back at the moment. Buy a header or pulleys or get an ECU reflash, anyone of them will make more difference performancewise than a cat-back, UNLESS it is a single outlet cat-back system, but those are loud and pricy, and it sounds like u want to avoid those. Even then u would only gain 10? HP. With a dual cat-back u gain... 0-3? 5? HP depending on the system that u pick.
Now, if u are looking for sportier sound... then yes, buy Apex'i WS2 or Comptech cat-back exhaust. They both are relatively quiet and make gentle sound. Sound is indeed way up there....
I hope it helped....

i've seen the WS2 as low as the mid-$600's from a vendor on honda - tech . com.
i was originally considering the WS2, but i'm a little wary of the coating they use on the piping. ideally, i'd want a full stainless steel system, but those will run a lot more than $600 whether is single or dual.

Adding onto this... As a owner of a single cat-back (J's 60RS) it also gave me a very significant weight reduction... Unfortunately I have a 5AT and the usually up hills that the tranny had to downshift didnt need to anymore due to the weight reduction/power gain... The only con that I have noticed is you do lose abit of low end but you will gain more up towards the high mid end.. (4500 RPMs) That is my input on the J's...
Anyways...
HYTECH FTW!!!!

just reading around, some people in various forums have mentioned that if you live in heavily salted areas (winter) or a lot of rain, the piping seems to be more susceptible to rust in a few years.

it would really depend if you are looking to gain a lot of power, looks, or just because...

yours is all stainless steel, right jeff?
the WS2 has this titanium coating over the piping. theoretically, it should be fine as long as the coating is intact. but the comments i've seen just seem to indicate it's more prone to rusting. which is why i'd rather get a stainless steel system.

I Just installed my Mugen 06-08 spec Exhaust and it is very quiet. I hope it gets a little louder after the ECU re-learns.
