2whp Trick.....Remove manifold cover while on Dyno!
My friend has a Type R. He immediately gained 2 whp by removing his plastic manifold cover when he made his dyno run.
Common sense made us figure that the Manifold cover retains heat. It has been stated that K series intake temperatures through the manifold are high, hence the use of the HONDATA INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET by some people. Think about it. If you are boiling Sausage in a Pot on your stover, it will boil faster if you place a lid on top of the pot cuz you are retaining the heat which builds up more and more...
Anyway, jus a little secret i thought i should share with everyone.

So driving with our hoods off his the next step?
how much do you think i gained my wrapping my exhaust? or adding a Hondata Manifold gasket (heat shield)??

Dont take this so lightly... back in my high school days when i used to street race, my car picked up alot of power with the hood off. intake temperatures really do make a big difference. K-series ECU starts pulling ignition timing around 80 degrees F. Now as for the Manifold cover... i would have to see the dyno graph before i would believe it. Not saying it couldnt happen, but i am a little skeptical about that.
I will post some videos when i get home of my H22 during hot temps and during cold temps so you can see the difference.

no doubt that cooler is better... however, i wouldnt drive a TSX around with no hood, or remove the manifold cover for an extra '2whp' that probably would be inconsistent on the dyno anyways by +/-5-10hp

I agree totally. But i do it in different ways now. Like using non metallic-based intakes and tubes, to aid in the prevention of heat soak. Also use the foam/foil duct insulation on things that can be hidden from sight, that helps alot too. We ducted up my buddy's turbo RX7, they have tons of heat problems. He could feel a considerable difference after driving for a while...
I tried to post said videos last night, but youtube was under maintenance. I waited for about an hour but no change. i will try again tonight if i can remember.

hum.... I dont think this is what gave you 2whp... lol numbers can vary depending on the temperature of the engine...
