well like I said, I just took that piece with the tubes out. i dunno about you guys but my Injen intake came with a little metal sleeve (as seen below) which allowed me to remove the tubes and connect into the black "box thingy."

Its not real pretty and I plan on buying a longer hose soon so I don't have to have all those clips there. but for now its ok.

My install was similar to CoopEuroR, and I was given a metal sleeve to replace the tube.

You should be safe, but just to clean up the engine bay, it might not be a bad idea to get rid of it :P

Nice looking SRI btw

thats what this whole thread is talking about.... you remove it and then connect the rubber hose to the black box attached to the intake. there are no open holes. look at my pics on the top of the page, see how its still connected but with out those tubes?

You may want to secure/wrap those somehow, just in case any dust etc gets in there. Also, if for any reason a cop wants to see your engine bay, those flailing hoses may get you a ticket, who knows.

Do cops in Canada ask to see your engine bay? I've never heard of one doing that...

I agree with VorteC, if you're not going to remove the tubes like I did, you should at least tape the openings closed so nothing can get into it.

CoopEuroR: I was just curious as to where and how you install the filter on that type of cold air intake. I was installing my cold air intake that looks exactly like yours but, I couldnt find where to put the actual filter part. I took the stock filter out and had all the connects ready but I didnt know what to do from there. Thanky you and sorry im such a newb just got the car a couple of months ago.

If I cant figure it out I think im going to cut the intake and make it a short ram intake.
