reflash before i die plz
|
fyi, before anymore people pm me about my 07 cat, i haven't determined a price yet and i still have to pick it up from my inlaws' house.
to be fair, once i determine how much to let it go for, etc..., i'll post it in the classifieds so anyone interested will get a shot at purchasing.
the cell count for the 06+ is 400 i believe, the aftermarkets are either 200 or 300. i can't remember what the 04/05 is.

04-05 = 900 cells
06+ = 400 cells
Magnaflow = 300 cells.
Random Technology = 200 cells
Per square inch that is.

Nope. 04 is more restrictive than anything by a huge margin.

I wonder if there's any dyno on '04-'05 CAT mod alone...

This is the defouler. Simply speaking an extender for O2 sensor.

Which cat do you use? How often do you get a CEL? Is there something particular that you do that will trigger a CEL?

It might be safest to go with 06-08 cat, but hard to find.
I say go with any other high flow cat, and keep extra anti foulers on hand and keep on adding them until it goes away lmao.

you dont trigger a CEL, the ECU makes readings and if those readings from the O2 sensors are inconsistent, or out of spec, then you get the CEL.
a non-fouler works and it is mind-bendingly easy to do. Its just a part that you screw in. Literally. You can do it before you install the cat - prevents you from going under the car.
again, its the 18mm spark plug non-fouler and costs 4 to 5 dollars from an auto parts store.

go read the code. I had two O2 codes. first i didnt install a non-fouler and i got code P0420 i think it was. That code meant the secondary O2 sensor was telling the ECU that the cat wasnt cleaning the exhaust mixture as well as stock. (expected with a high flow cat). Installing the non-fouler worked.
The second code i got was P0137 (i think) which was Secodary O2 sensor low voltage. This CEL will come and go kinda like the one you have now. This code for me was caused by an exhaust leak between the header and the cat. The exhaust shop just re-tightened everything and that CEL went away for good.

Ok, I finally read up on spark plug non-foulers and understand what they do. They basically just space O2 sensors further away from the exhaust gases in order to trick the ECU. Now my question is, are they necessary for headers, as well as high flow cats and test pipes?
