^ Their At tranny is TOTALLY different from ours. GTR and EVO X runs a Semi-AT/MT tranny. It's basically a manual tranny with clutch (twin clutch actually) but its computerized for faster shifting speed. IS-F has a very 8 speed as well as C63 with their upgraded AMG transmission and even the SMG III for BMW. The TSX tranny is just SO BAD compared to those racing inspired racing automatic transmission.
I understand that AT gives you boost all the time but like TSX WS said, AT looses more power at the wheels than MT and I have no idea how much power that AT tranny can withstand in our TSX

I hope this isn't you "friends" talking again....
The vast majority of TSX are AT. And while they do have more drivetrain loss that is no reason to think more power isn't going to make the driver happier. Likewise we are not putting gobs and gobs of power through these transmissions.
With a few exceptions AT seem generally stronger than MT. And as autos go, the TSX to me seems like one of the better ones out there. The shifting is really nice, fairly quick, but smooth. Plus it has the sportshift mode. I don't think strength is really going to be a concern, but we will just have to see.
Anyway, What started out as a pretty legitimate question is turning to the dark side. Try not to go there peoples.

Well you answered your on question, you see automatics are not useless after all, and in some cases they are faster then manual but anyways I read somwere that 300hp is the key number when working with hondas. So I think if you get all you bolt ons and SC or k-pro, the trany should hold fine.
peace

^ that's very true, but it also relates to one's opportunity cost. It's like, you spend an X amount on your car and only gives you Y hp. However, if you had a manual, you put the same X money on to the car, you get Y+20 hp! So it will be more worth it to do on a manual, so should not waste the money. Something like that...but I always love to see a good build on an AT car.

^ but here's the thing with the AT... if you drag race /w AT, you get perfect shifts all the time while with the MT you can miss shift... Also there is timing with MT shifting and all that little BS while the AT you get the same constant shifts... I used to laugh at people modding AT's until I went out to the drag strip and lost to a couple of AT's because I either shifted too early or late or even miss the gate to the next gear...

^ That's very true, but I don't think we can make enough power to really need an AT for that kinda precise shifting. And also, most people who drag probably has a drag AT tranny. And, I don't think the TSX is much of a drag car. I just keep making myself think that I won't go to track and this is my cruiser car, so AT is fine....and more power is fun. Hahaha....Let's hope to see some good things from the K-Pro.

Well, we DONT drag race TSX's and try to get them into under 10 seconds of quarter mile time. And those 20HP are very significant at the level of power we are dealing with.

The difference between a good tune and a bad tune is about 10-20whp. So its not a big deal. Right now I really wish Kpro was out for 2007. I already have the 06 ecu along with other stuff. Everyone is always putting down the AT. We'll see.
