I've been reading up a lot on this and I'm not buying it. The gasket was replaced from metal to this new material. That means it doesn't transfer heat anymore to the manifold. That also means the engine doesn't cool as fast anymore. Any ideas?

How would mating the IM to the block with metal help it cool down any faster? Cold is a lack of energy.... if the IM is already cool, why would it need to cool more?

Or are you referencing the motor cooling down sooner? I'm not really sure I understand the angle of how this is bad. Honda does what they do because it is cost effective, and most people don't care about this type of thing anyway.

I have not known a phenolic spacer to be a negative addition for power production or metal metal fatigue in any light. The only possible down side, is slightly lowered fuel economy, as the incoming air is slightly cooler, requiring more fuel to be sprayed.

I understand what your theory is; the IM is acting like a big passive radiator for the motor.

Well, if our engines were air cooled then I can surely understand how doing this may not be as beneficial but since we have an internally liquid cooled engine the issue should be non existent. The cooling system will keep the engine at it's operating temperature and with the IM gasket keeping the IM cooler that makes less trapped heat to dissipate.

Someone would more likely notice gains on a boosted application where the intake temperatures are much higher but there is absolutely no harm in doing it otherwise.

This has nothing to do with engine cooling...

The gasket reduces the IM temps..

I'm sure he understands that, he was bringing up a completely different topic in relation to the IM gasket and engine heat.

Thermostat, radiators and their fans always did the job of cooling and always will. IM is given all that heat together with TB and in addition to intake resonator to keep the engine sound exactly the same at any temperature despite the power loss. TB is also heated for the sake of TB valve not jamming due to shrinking/freezing.

I believe that the cooler it gets, the bigger is ur gain with IMG and TB bypass. Actually, I know it.
