How much power holds AT tranny ??
Im gonna use SC and dont want to crack the tranny )
I saw a lot of feedbacks in topics that stock AT transmission holds about 300 hp with no harm. Is it hp or whp ? How much torque is safe for AT ? Anyone has any opinion or other info about my question ?
Thanks for your replies !

I plan to run the same setup Hondata does.

these numbers and results make me so want to upgrade. including pulley, injectors, tune, kpro I should be looking at around 3000-3200 right.

General rule for me is anything below 300whp is ok. Close to 300whp is already pushing it. Some can go for more and some can go for less. But from experience I see that 300whp is the line. AT or MT. If you plan on pushing the car past 300whp. You better upgrade your components. If not, then your pushing your luck. And yes maybe you can get away with it. And there are stock engines that went beyond that limit. But those that pushed it have the resources and money to do so. If you want to play it safe. Just bulletproof it. I think 300 hp is enough for FWD . All over is just a torque steering, AT tranny has no LSD and it cold be a little bit hard to hold a car on a road under WOT. I tried a very charged civic yesterday , lots of power and fun but instead of driving and acceleration i got just squealing rubber, lots of smog and a crazy wheel in my hands trying jump out in a window )) I think i need more practice for precise driving of hot FWD.
Great thanks everyone for info !

I was told by a tech at acura that the tranny should hold two times the amount of the stock HP. So considering that the stock whp on the TSX is roughly between 160-170, I think 300whp will be fine.

Yeah, I already have some torque steer and traction issues sometimes at my power levels. I think if I were to add more power, driveability wouldn't be quite as good.
That's something that many people don't realize when trying to add power to their car. If you add so much that you can barely get traction, then what's the point. It can make the car unpredictable and more dangerous to drive. That's just my opinion though, I've always valued driveability over power numbers.
You guys may also want to look at torque numbers when trying to figure out what the AT tranny can hold.

Yeah man, I'm really loving my setup now. It drives like stock when I'm just cruising around town, but really pulls when I get on it!
Pulley: $80
Injectors: $250
Tune: $350
K-Pro: used RSX K-Pro $1000, Hondata TSX K-Pro upgrade $400, Civic O2 sensor $225
=$2300ish
