Timing Chain Tensioner
Modified recently did an article on the K series timing chain tensioner. They talked about how the stock one breaks with new cams but, in the article they never talk about the k24, just the k20. being that they are the same block and have similar builds, does anyone know if this affects us? I don't know much about hondas YET which i why I ask, I can't afford downtime for something like this when I install new cams.

The same timing chain tensioner in the RSX-S is used in the TSX's K24A2. So yes, if you are worried, get the Hybrid Racing one.

Funny. My car was completely stock about 3 weeks ago when my tensior failed and had the dealership replace it. Wish I knew to have them replace with tht

Your timing chain tensioner failed? On a stock engine, that is semi-rare, unless you ran out of oil, or have really high mileage.

huh? That sounds kind of strange... I mean I never even heard of any problems with the chains on newer motors.

The F20c and the F22c in the s2k have this problem all the time. In my s2k it happend after 1 month of owner ship. My dads 08 accord with the k24 had a problem with it just recently with only 12k on the clock. Honda has had quite a few issues with timing chain tensioners, and it has had nothing to do with the owners or driving/modifing.

I just remembered, my bud's neighbor had a similar issue with his RSX-S. It jumped a few teeth and didn't run properly. Don't know the mileage.
