intake filter

hey guys I was just wondering how you go about in cleaning a k&n intake cone filter? What would be the most effective way? I've heard of buying the cleaning kit, using oxyclean, or using dish water soap but I don't know which will clean it better. Thanks!

Probably can't go wrong with the re-charge kit.

I know my cousin used gasoline and some kind of oil (can't remember what kind...I think WD-40 but not sure).

I used the re-charge kit with my stock K&N filter, not sure if it helps you.

I don't think you need to use soap, just hose it off, let dry and re-apply oil.

Go with the recharger kit. It comes with the soap and the oil needed to clean it and it does a great job. But if you dont want to I wouldnt use anything harsh on it the best thing if you can do it just rinse it with cold water and let it air dry.

ive only ever used the re-charge kit to clean my air filters, it works great, you take off the filter, spray it with cleaner, let it soak, rinse, oil, done.

Well I've heard of people doing the oxyclean thing where they would soak it with oxyclean (with water of course) and just let it sit for a while. Then all the shit would just drip right off. Some people say it's more effective but I wasn't sure.

I bought a used intake so I was just wondering would it be better for me to buy a new one or just clean the current one. He used it for about 2 years or 40,000 miles.

Well the paper that came with the intake says you should clean every 2 years or so.
