I'll be switching out my RT cat for an FLP cat. Several reasons I'm swapping out:
-FLP has 2.25" in and out or 2.5" in and out. I know older RT cats is 2.25 in and 2.00 out or the other way around.
-FLP has better flanges, the RT cat has moving flanges which sometimes don't seal well and leak even with gaskets.
-FLP cat seems to have better hardware

I also have stock catback to keep the attention of the cops away, and just in case they decide to look underneath the car, I welded the stock heatshield around it
Speaking from personal experience, RT cat made a BIG difference on my 05 TSX. I had a header installed before that, but u need to pair 2 things up to feel the great result

can't you just fit it back on? or its not direct fit?
i haven't try it yet myself tho, but i m gonna do it too.

What's the point of a cat, if you need to put a defouler on it, that also means it wont pass smog. Might as well run a test pipe, and stock heat sheild.

RT cat doesnt have flanges needed for mounting the heatshield, but welding costs like $10.

Test pipe will make the car stink and that will attract cops sooner or later. Oh and people passed smog in other states with these cats where they only test u with the sniffer.

test pipe is the way to go ... installed mine last week and the car throttle response is greatly improved. barely even notice any change in sound, if any.

high flow cats are pretty free flowing and the net gain over the most free flowing cat and a test pipe is 1 or 2 hp as far as i know. better to run a free flowing cat than run a test pipe IMO. the benefits are worth the sacrifice of 2 hp

Yep... I have no plans for a test pipe. I'm no tree hugger, but ya gotta make SOME effort, eh?
