Fastline HFC vs '06+ OEM
I have an '05 TSX, and purchased an '06 OEM cat from another forum member awhile back. To this day, I still haven't found the time to install it. I was looking at the FLP cat, and wanted to know how significant of a difference I would see between the 2 of them on my '05. I know I'll see gains either way. Eventually, I plan to also pick up the CT-E header if that makes a difference...

I felt pretty nice gains going from my stock cat to my flp. I would definitely say it was worth the money.

05 cat- 900 cells per square inch
06 cat - 400 cells
FLP - 300 cells
RT- 200 cells
Test pipe - 0 cells
There is your difference....

+1 I noticed a pretty good power increase going to an RT Cat. I still think its one of the best bang for your buck mods going from an 06-08, and if you have some extra money to throw around I would make the upgrade

Thanks WS...
Sheesh --- I knew the '06+ OEM cats were less restrictive than the '05... that's not what surprised me. What surprised me was just how restrictive the '05 really is!

Ok, to clear things up a bit; FLP cat is made with magnaflow cat cores. SOME of them have 200 cells others have 300 so they generally say 250 cells. All of the RT cats come with 200 cells per inch sq. so I decided to stick with RT to be sure. I stuck a defouler on it and had no CEL's to this day (Its been about 8 months since I got it). I also have stock catback to keep the attention of the cops away, and just in case they decide to look underneath the car, I welded the stock heatshield around it
Speaking from personal experience, RT cat made a BIG difference on my 05 TSX. I had a header installed before that, but u need to pair 2 things up to feel the great result

No, RT is 300. It isn't 200. Here is my proof: Random Technology High Flow Cat Sale!!!
That is from excelerate too. Don't spread false information.
edit: Another reason to buy FLP, the stock heatshield bolts right up to the FLP cat, you don't have to do any modifications to make it work. There is no reason to buy RT when you can get FLP. When I had the test FLP I did get CELs; however, now I have been running the final version for many months and I have not had a single CEL and I have had my heatshield on so it all looks pretty close to stock to an untrained eye.

Your proof? You just referred me to someone who was told so by Magnaflow engineer. Marcus has a different source at Magnaflow and they told him it's 200 cells. Just search over at azine about cat threads and u will find that RT cat has 200 cells per square inch. I even believe that JTso at some point showed pics or 1 sq. inch paper or something covering a few cells and counted them. Oh and I wouldn't bother with the heatshield if I lived in another state.... so that is a little factor.

At least I posted some proof. So far all I see is you talking out your ass. Why don't you go get your proof and then come back and talk.
edit: also why are you talking about Marcus? I posted a link to excelerate, who would have no reason to say the RT cat is 300 instead of 200. excelerate only sells RT, he doesn't sell FLP.
