06 o2 Sensor Replacement
This is a copy of a thread on another forum. So far it has got some looks but no one has chimed in. I want to get this done this weekend. Any help is appreciated.
I tried to replace the rear (after cat) o2 sensor on my 06 TSX. I had the car jacked up and found where everything seems to go. Basic question: after pulling out the rubber plug that some of the wires go through, (not on the o2 sensor side, the other side (the one the plugs into the car), do I just pull the existing plug out and put the new plug in? Is it that simple? We did not want to yank too hard and break something with the fear that it would be too hard to get out after something snapped. I fgured I would come to the 'club and see if someone could help. Thanks.

^^ I believe you need to pull the back seat in order to get to that other side of the harness for the secondary O2 sensor. You do not want to just yank on it. It will not come off like that.
The back seat isn't too hard to take out though. There is just one screw in the middle holding it in place. I would search through coilover installs, because you have to remove the back seat during that install too.

Thanks guys. we followed the wire and it seems to lead under the passenger seat though; not the back. Kenny could it be different than yours due them not being the same year (04 vs 06). Just a thought? Would Honda really make you take out seat to change a sensor??

05 TSX, it's under the front passenger seat.

thaks guys. We had to unscrew the front pass seat to get to the wires underneath. It seems the first shop that did the work took a shortcut and did not do that the first time around installing parts. They basically ruined the wiring by twising them and ruined some of the coneections to the actual sensor; that is most likely why the light kept coming on. I drove yesterday for a bout 25 min after the install and the light did not come on. I'm hoping that this cures my CEL problem. We shall see today after more driving.

Drove the car for the whole weekend and no light. Then yesterday I took a one day road trip to Boston and while on the highway the light pops on. I have yet to check the code but I have a feeling I know what it is. What about disconnecting the battery for a bit. Would that help?

UGh. I hate to bump this thread.
I was thinking of taking the car to another shop and telling them exactly what I have done to try and fix the problem (and maybe some things I haven't done), and see what they can come up with. I figure one last nickel and dime try is worth before I have to go back to stock header & cat. That is going to cost me a dickload of money.
Maybe a gasket was left out, maybe I have an exhaust leak, maybe they could test the front 02 sensor and see if it is functioning properly, maybe... I don't know. Any other thoughts as to what it could be? Maybe Mugen sold me a defective part...LOL. : (

I'm not following you at all....
What CEL code is the car logging?
Let the actual code/codes the car is logging determine what action is taken.

Sorry. My OP was kinda a continuation of a thread on another forum. The code is P0420. I am running a hi flow cat. I have tried numerous fixes to rid myself of the CEL problem and nothing has stuck.

If you had left it stock, this would be a dealer warranty repair. 8 years or 80,000 miles (I think) on emissions parts.

If I would have left it stock I most likely would have not had any problems. Also the stock unit does not fit with the Mugen application. In this instance I lived and learned. Next time around I would have left the Cat alone and purchased a header that fit with the stock Cat.
