Tsx Battery can't jump other cars?
So this has been bugging me lately. A lot of my friends always call me for a jump, since i usually need a jump from them half the time during winter.
Is it me or is the tsx battery too small to jumpstart a dead car?
Today was really oddy I tried jumping a friends 08 stock tsx at. It didn't even get any juice really but it did turn slowly.
After 10 minutes we gave up and asked my friend who had a portable jump pack.
That took 2 minutes to be able to start the car...
So any ideas guys?
I did look at my voltmeter on my brockway sensor.
Idle my car runs 14.2- 14.4 and while jumping it went down to 13.1 and maybe 12.1 v.
Does any of it sound fishy on my end?

It may be the cables. I've jump started a X5 and Altima, went pretty smoothly both times. (obviously kept the radio, seat heaters, lights etc off lol)

I've jumped plenty of cars. Once before, my friends BMW needed a jump. They tried the Civic and a chevy truck. Both couldn't jump the car. And then I came in with the TSX and the BMW started.

You do not need to "charge" his battery. Just connect + to+ and - to -. Keep your car running and turn the key in his car. While jump-starting, he uses you battely to start instead of getting "charged". It may also be the cable.... I just borrowed my father's $10 cables lol

you should actually have both cars off ignition turned to off on both cars when your connecting your jumper cables as to not run the risk of have a electrical surge coming from a run car and going to the dead car, that can burn out the ECU on the dead car or possibly both cars, your battery is not gonna discharge fast enough into the dead battery so you can start your car, and once you get the dead running you should leave the cables connected for about 5-10 min as so the alternator on the car that got boosted doesnt have to work really hard to charger the battery again, this way you have two alternators charging one battery, which makes less work for one alternator and can save you repair bills. after the five minutes or so turn off both cars again, as so you dont run the risk of getting a electrical surge again, and make sure the car that go boosted starts and your vehicle starts back up again too, i learned this is school and have done it a few times without any problems, just have to do a a little more work thats all lol

It might be the battery too. At stop, I probably run around 14.4-14.6V, and while i'm driving that # seems to go to 12.8-13.4V. I have cheap ass jumper cables, like dollar store quality and they worked fine. Just to add on to what the other two guys said, once you're hooked up on both cars, the jumper starts his car and revs the motor a few times while the jumpee starts his ignition. That's what I was taught...

Yea, I have seen others revving to engines to 3-4k rpms while jumping, but my case worked without it....

It could be your cables are to old or just suck. I used to have a real crappy set of cables and it wouldn't start any car, bought a brand set that was heavy duty worked like a charm.

How about your battery? Is it stock, or something better/newer? I would think that maybe your battery is good enough for your car to start, but not strong enough to start another.
Of course, I've only ever jumped one car in my life, so I'm not quite an expert.
