Dealing with a stiff clutch

Hello

Recently picked up an 04 and its got a what seems like a very stiff clutch. Reading other posts and reviews it sounds like the clutch should be rather soft on this car.

I had the clicking so I lubed the MC rod and that went away. There is also a creaking sounds, but it sounds like its coming from the slave cylinder or maybe the clutch itself...not sure if thats related or not. I'm going to start with bleeding the clutch fluid, the probably replace the MC and see if that helps. Any other opinions?

Thanks!!

The creaking sounds (if heard by slowly dis/engaging pedal) can be resolved by lubing the inside of the MC by spraying into the hole where the rod goes in.

The clutch is actually stiff compared to other cars.

Clutch

Thanks for the responses! I did try lubbing the MC that helped the click but didn't seem to help the creak. I am pretty confident that the sounds is coming right from the Slave Cylinder area, although I could be wrong.

I was thinking it is possible an aftermarket clutch was put in at some point. If it is aftermarket, its crap! My left leg hurts after every drive. I'll try the basic stuff first and see where that gets me.

Bled the clutch this weekend and it didn't really help much. Will be bringing it to a shop to have the sound/stiffness diagnosed. Any other thoughts in the mean time? Would a MC cause still clutch?

Thanks!

On my 2006 had the creaking clutch two months ago.
MC was changed, noise was gone and clutch feel a
big improvment. I was lucky this was all done under warranty.

I once drove RX8 with racing clutch and boy was it stiff. It took all the strength of my left leg (and my leg was strong after driving a Civic which had stick shift and relatively stiff clutch) to push it all the way to the floor. It is possible that the previous owner burnt stock clutch and installed racing one.
