Aftermarket seats
Not sure if the is the right section??
Has anybody installed aftermarket front seat in a TSX.
Any issues with the air bag light?
I was thinking about installing two Corbeau FX1 seats since I do HPDE (lapping) schools.
Here's a link:
Corbeau: FX1 Pro
Thanks.

I think there is some threads on here with some better info about this (i dont have afftermarket seats). But you lose the heated seats, and yes the airbag light stays on but there is a fix. (a resistor i think) Good luck

You lose more than just heated seats, you lose the airbag system. You can install resistors, but that will only fool the system and turn off the light (from my understanding). MMsTSX will come in here shortly and explain to you the issues one runs into with aftermarket seats.
Even with all the problems, I am still doing aftermakret seats, nothing beats Recaro and Takatas...

well, I've kind of hit a roadblock on this issue.
we don't have a simple system like say an Infiniti has in it for airbags.
we have a more complicated, "intelligent" airbag system.
run by OBD systems, this system has sensors that are critical to its
operation. in an Infiniti, the system for the passenger sensor is simple.
the airbags only either open or don't. there is no stages to their operation.
so a simple set of resistors and plugs can trick the car to thinking they're there.
and as for a weight sensor, they just use a whoopie cushion type of thing to
measure weight of the passanger that can easily be manipulated and installed
into the after market seat. easy fixes. our car, however has digital sensors that
sit in multiple locations in the stock seats. the major ones are in the seat bottom,
one on the left, one on the right. they calculate more than weight, they calculate
seat position, occupant position within the seat, weight, etc. so if you're leaning
towards the door during a crash, that airbag will open with less force, or not open
at all. each airbag in our car has different stages in which it will open depending
on the condition, or it may just never open. you can't simply just run resistors in our
car and trick it into thinking the missing airbags are there. nor can you duplicate
the sensor imput units in the passenger seat. Honda touts this as a fairly major
advantage over their competitors in their literature, and that makes sense. but it really
makes it a pain for us trying to get a working airbag system minus the seats.
to further complicate things some, on the 06-08 I think, on the 08's for sure, the seatbelt
attaches directly to the seat on the passenger side. it is not anchored to the car at all.
only on the top. the bottom mount is built into the seat. so if you remove that seat,
you'll have to fabricate your own new seatbelt mount near the floor, and you'll need to
fabricate it properly, not just slap a bolt in there. so thats just an added pain in the process.
in the end, I may end up giving up my brides and rebuilding the stock seats. redoing all
of the foam/bolstering and putting new leather on them. that way at least the car would
be safe for the family to ride in. It would be great if somebody could find a fix for this.
but I'm having some serious trouble.

So what kind of system does the Euro R use? Maybe we can take the airbag wiring from a Euro R and swap it for ours? I don't know. I'm just thowing out an idea.

MMsTSX great explanation. I was under the impression that you were close to finding a solution. Thanks for the update.

I have a euro R and there's only a driver and passenger airbag, no seat or curtain airbags, plus the fact all euroR's are RHD would make the wiring slightly different.

^ I guess they tried to save weight by taking out "secondary safety features".

The frequency ranges on their stereos are also lower than in other cars. I am not too crazy about side airbags too. I just want seatbelts and front airbags to work

I def. need to find a better way to mount the passenger side seatbelt. I currently have it bolted to the same bolt that the back right side one that goes from the seat to the floor of the car. Pretty cheesey but it works.
