Its not a good idea to drive until the tank is nearly empty. The fuel pump is cooled and lubricated by the fuel, and by driving with a nearly empty tank, you may shorten the life of the pump. A reason the gas light comes on at ~14 gal may be a fuel pump safety measure built in by Honda

I have definitely driven the car to a point where the needle is on 'E' and I'm fearing that I'm going to run out of gas. However, the most I ever put into the tank was a bit over 14 gallons, but I stop once the gas pump trips and shuts off.
Do you remember how much more gas did you put in the tank after the pump first tripped?

I think it was right around a gallon or so. Idk how it filled so much.

Just a FYI
Even though it say's 17 gallons, you do not need to fill up that much. I under stand you are just testing it out, but save your self the head ache and fill up till the gas pump clicks off.

I know not to fill it up all the way like that every time but i was on a log drive so its not like the gas was just gonna be sitting there. it would be down in the matter of moments.

^ That's cool, just wanted to put that out there. I know people love to fill up tanks till they see the gas go up the nec.

I thought I'd post up my experience with this..no I don't try to max out the number of litres I can fit in the car, I usually pump around 57, the capacity should be 65, but I don't wait until the tank is COMPLETELY empty..by the time my range hits 0 I fill up. What I noticed on road trips though is that the needle doesn't move even after I drive like 200km, but after that the needle starts to fall like CRAZY. I remember that for the first 200km it didn't move, then over the next 100km I lost a quarter tank..The needle is not accurate at all in the way it drops.
