17 gallons in the tank..
I have read tons of post about how many miles can you get to the tank and if you can really put 17 gallons in to the tank. I was on my way home from Tallahassee, Fl to Tampa, Fl. So on, my g/f was paying for gas so so i wanted to see how much i could really put in the gas tank. I filled it up all the way to the top to where the gas was about to spill out. I put almost 17 gallons but the gas light just cam on when i filled up. I drove 110 miles before it even left the top the full mark. I am now at 250 miles and haven't even hit the half tank mark. I drove 103 miles and still said i have 411 to go. I will let every one know what i get to the this whole tank. I just thought it would be cool to take some pics since everyone is always asking. So here is some pics. Enjoy.
Comments are welcome.

I believe you can only get to it in the 04-05 models. But if you have that model you hit the info button and hit the top one. I believe is trip counter....

Haha, that's a lot for us. It was like $2.60 for us about a month ago for 93. but back in Tampa is only $2.95 for 93.

Its $3.20 in Cali. Chevron premium. Some crappy gas can be purchased at about $2.80.
As for MPG, I think I would be able to hit 600 miles on one tank if I had the patience......

Anyone else notice that their low fuel light comes on really early? Mine comes on with approx 18 litres remaining in the tank (about 4.75 - 5 US gallons). That's a LOT of mileage remaining when the light comes on!
I think the most I've ever put into the tank was 59 litres, and it felt like I'd driven about 3-4 days since the light came on.

I've wondered about this also. Helms service manual says fuel tank holds 64.7L ( 17.1 US Gals).
I fill up when my light comes on and put in 54L. Thus I must have 10L remaining. This has been pretty consistant.I can't find what it should be in the manaul and it seems we all have different readings. I'm visiting the dealership next and will ask when I'm there.

WoW! A 16.7 gallon fill up, I think you won!
I have definitely driven the car to a point where the needle is on 'E' and I'm fearing that I'm going to run out of gas. However, the most I ever put into the tank was a bit over 14 gallons, but I stop once the gas pump trips and shuts off.
Do you remember how much more gas did you put in the tank after the pump first tripped?

Do not over fill your car like that or you'll regret it. There is a charcoal Evap canister in the top of the gas tank opening by the fuel pump, anytime it hits a certain point it goes into the canister. Once the canister is full or no longer working you will get a check engine light. The canister cost over 500 dollars just for that parts and is a pain in the ass to install.
Just a FYI
Even though it say's 17 gallons, you do not need to fill up that much. I under stand you are just testing it out, but save your self the head ache and fill up till the gas pump clicks off.

HUH?
Check my intro thread to see how many Honda vehicles I have owned. I have ALWAYS topped them. I have NEVER had a check engine light come on for this reason.
Had a '93 Civic Si, 13.2 gallon tank. I put 15.6 gallons in it.
Had an '02 Civic EX, 13.2 gallon tank. I put 14.6 gallons in it.
Had an '05 CR-V EX, 15.4 gallon tank. I put 17.4 gallons in it.
Have an '07 Fit, 10.8 gallon tank. I put 13.1 gallons in it.
Had a '10 Insight, 10.6 gallon tank. I put 12.2 gallons in it.
I've NEVER had a check engine light. I've NEVER had a evaporative canister issue.
I've had others, like my '89 CRX, that won't hold what is stated - 11.9 gallon tank. The most I've ever put in it has been 11.1 gallons. It has 307,xxx miles on it.
This is, in my opinion, one of those things that you are told to do (the main reason is because they (environmentalists) don't want you sloshing gasoline all over the place.) It falls into the same category as the oil drain plug washer. My CRX, above, is on it's 2nd washer, with changes every 3,000 miles. My daughter lost the original one about 70,000 miles ago! It's never leaked a drop, nor have any of my others.
YMMV -
David

Wow 16.765. My record is 16.4xx and I don't have NAVI in my 04. I was lucky enough to not to empty my whole tank.
