Headlights Condensation -> RESOLUTION in post #17
I just bought a 2007 Carbon gray pearl TSX with Navi last night. Anyway's, I've been reading a lot about the headlight condensation problem. Is this still a current problem with the 2007's? I know that it was a big issue with the 04's, so I am not sure if they've resolved it by the 07 model year? Also, what are some other things to watch out for with the 2007's?
Thanks,
Jeff

No, I just have the stock headlight. I wasn't sure if they found a better way to seal them up to prevent moisture from building up in them? It seems like most of the TSX's that were having this problem were the 04's. I'm not sure how people with 06's and 07's have had this problem? Also, is there any good way to preven this, such as not going throw automatic touchless car washes that use high pressure spray? If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. I am under warranty, so it's not a big deal, but if possible, I'd like to prevent this from occuring.

The issue of condesation is a big mystery to me. I've seen 2 ppl with stock headligths who had the condensation just by itself and had the dealer replace the lights. Then when I was doing angel eyes in 4 sets of lights, 3 are working fine to this day (as far as I know), but one set started getting condensation right away. This was also the set that didn't have good salt bags. His old salt bags weren't in a good shape, so we used some aftermarket salt bags, I added more adhesive to housings... did different things, but the condensation would come back after a while. Sealing of those headlights was not any worse than the other 3 sets, so the only thing to blame that I can think of was the salt bags... Maybe that is what goes bad after a while. Salt bags are responsible for absorbing moisture, so clearly, if the moisture remains, salt bags are not working properly. Based on my experience, I highly doubt it has anything to do with the way the headligth is sealed.

Huh, that's really interesting. So, it really won't matter on the years? Unless by 2007, they got smart, and put in some better salt bags? Are there any other real problem areas on the 2007's? I had the headlight condensation issue with my previous 2002 Lincoln LSE, so I am not looking forward to that.

My TSX is an 06 that is 13 months old and I have not had any condensation problems. I will expect my dealer to replace the headlights if any problems develop during the warranty period.
Pete, thanks for the salt bag tip.
