yes it should have.
that civic si will blow your doors off all day long.
I think you bought the wrong car if you want to race around.

I think it is "normal" that a Civic SI beats the TSX. It makes about the same power and torque as the 09 TSX, but it's about 300-400lbs lighter. It's always about power-to-weight ratio when it comes to acceleration.

It most certainly does not produce the same torque, where do you get your information?

To the person getting poo'd on by the SI;

Is your 2009 TSX AT?

That's another 20% power loss compared to the 6MT only Civic SI.

Heck 6MT 1G/2G TSX vs 2006+ Civic SI, we're expected to lose anyway, our cars are heavier.

Now if you're alluding to the fact that our cars costing noticeably more should have more power from the factory, like 220+HP, and 180+ lbs of tq then yes, but unfortunately Honda doesn't agree.

TSX: Engine

Engine Type: Aluminum-alloy I-4 4-cylinder
Displacement (liters): 2.4
Horsepower @ rpm (SAE net): 201 @ 7000
Torque (lbs-ft @ rpm) MT: 172 @ 4300 to 4400
Torque (lbs-ft @ rpm) AT: 170 @ 4300 to 4500
Valvetrain: 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC®
Compression Ratio: 11.0:1
Redline (rpm): 7100

Civic:
Engine Type In-Line 4-Cylinder
Engine Block/Cylinder Head Aluminum-Alloy
Displacement (cc) 1998
Horsepower @ rpm (SAE net) 197 @ 7800
Torque (lb-ft @ rpm) 139 @ 6100
Redline (rpm) 8000
Bore and Stroke (mm) 86 x 86
Compression Ratio 11.0:1

Those torque figures are quite different, this information pulled from Honda's own web site.

You are right, the torque is quite different, but look at the weight as well. From official Honda/Acura site (Canada):

2009 Civic Si: 1314kg
2009 TSX: 1574 - 1587kg (Auto) / 1542 - 1556kg (Manual)

That's at least 228kg difference (if I take the lightest TSX), which is about 502lbs!!! If you're talking 0-60, it's about power/weight (HP / weight). The Civis SI has a ratio of 0.0681 vs. TSX 0.0592 (Note: have to convert kg to lbs if using bhp for power). For comparison, a Ford Focus 2.0 2007 has a ratio of 0.053 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-to-weight_ratio). The higher the number the more likely it has better acceleration.

In my opinion, the two cars may start off the line head-to-head, but eventually (possibly when the TSX has to shift @ 7100 rpm) the Civic SI is going to over-take the TSX while its heading to 8000rpm red-line.

Based on discussions I've read about HP & torque debates, I feel that if you're looking at all out performance where you can rev up to red-line (e.g. reving it up and dropping the clutch and not daily driving scenario), the SI will beat the TSX because of the relatively similar HP figures, but with the SI having much lighter weight.

Oh, I do not disagree with your statements in regards to weight of the vehicles at all.

The TSX is more of a cruiser though, and I really like it. I do want forced induction though, can't wait for that to happen. Hopefully hondata or cobb tuning come up with a flash based tuner soon. *fingers crossed*

tsx is not in the same category as the si. Obviously the tsx is more refined and luxurious while the civic is........a civic. It's smaller and quicker. =/

On another note. Where's a supercharger for the 07-08's!

This thread has been kind of forgotten, but I just wanted to say to those who are complaining about TSX being heavy that the weight only matters when u start off a stand-still position. When you hit ~60-70 mph, the acceleration becomes much slower due to the resistance of air. From this point on, weight maters less and it's all about drag, power, and torque. As mentioned previously, and as we all know, TSX has quite a bit more torque than a Civic Si, so it has an advantage at high speed. In fact, if you perform a 1 or 2 mile long run (which I know nobody does) TSX might well come out as a winner since it will have less troubles fighting the resistance of air at high speeds (90+ mph). I know on my own experience that my automatic TSX was catching up with an RSX-S after we both hit 90 mph, but I lost miserably at the beginning due to the weight.

Of course reflashed TSX's are in even better position with TQ extended all the way to 6k rpms and power increase from 5k. I am just trying to clarify the situation here

SI and TSX should be about even IMO. Two of my friends have Si and my car with intake took the 2009 SI in 4th gear but the 2008 beat me. It depends. When I raced the 2009, we had like 3 runs on a long straightaway and from a 50 roll to 120.
