2009 Acura TSX reliability - owners please sign up

Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide results on new models quickly--if owners sign up.

I'm grateful that this forum has stickied a thread about the research in the main forum. If we can get a quick result for the 2009, I'll credit this forum on my home page and in any press release mentioning the TSX.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, panel members receive full access to the results for free.

For the details, and to sign up to help out:

Hoping for an initial result in November, but this is going to require more participants.

We'll have initial results for some early 2009s in August, so it is doable.

my bluetooth unit broke last week, cerritos acura said it was " unresponsive ". so they replaced it with a new one under warranty. other than that, so far so good. "keeps my fingers crossed"

Even if you have enough people to sign up for this, would it be an honest verdict to judge the reliabilty of the new gen tsx.
i mean since it's a brand new car i wouldn't be surprised if it came up with some child deceases just like every other car has.

every brand new car has those problems, so if owners do have problems the result would be that the new gen would be a unreliable car even though it still has to develope itself throughout the years.

IMO it's still too early to judge this car to be reliable or not.

Depends on what you mean by "reliable." I don't pretend that my results predict anything beyond the period reported upon. So any initial report would simply indicate how many problems the owners of the new TSX experienced in the first couple of months early in the car's run.

Might this problem rate improve with cars sold later in the model year, after Honda had identified and addressed any early bugs? Absolutely.

One reason I like to offer quarterly updates is that when the problem rate changes, this quickly becomes reflected in the latest results.

Six signed up so far. A decent start, but at least a couple dozen more will be needed for a result in November.

The August results will include the 2009 Murano, so it can be done.

A few more owners have signed up, but not enough to make a result possible in November. After that, the next update will be in February.

Results for earlier model years and other models recently posted here:

More owners of the 2009 remain very much needed if we're going to provide a quick initial result.

I should be picking up an 09 TSX in about 25 - 30 days, so I will be happy to contribute to TrueDelta. Hopefully I will have nothing to report

Thanks, I appreciate it.

So far nine owners have signed up. It's a start, but not enough for a result in February. Are there many owners of the 2009 here?

Canada 09 tsx

09 TSX polished metallic here. Only problem to report is the glue I found on the dash when taking delivery. They had to replace some panels on the dash.

In case it's not clear, only information supplied through the survey process can be included in the analysis.

With more participants, we could have an initial result in February.
