Almost Constant "Ticking" Coming From Rear?
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue, thought very minor, it is super annoying.
While I'm driving...smooth roads or bumpy roads, there is a "ticking" of sorts coming from the rear and it is almost constant. Usually with the radio on loud enough I don't hear it. But whenever it is off or low, this ticking is enough to drive you insane! If I had to be more specific about its location, I'd say the rear passengers side, potentially near the window...but I'm not positive. Definitely from the back though...has anyone else encountered this or know what it could be? I'm going crazy!
Thanks!!!

Might be the rear parcel shelf 'crackling' some people have experienced.

Hey guys, been away a while, but thanks for the replies. It usually only happens while I'm moving if it helps and like Darren said above a "crackling" is probably a better description of it than a ticking noise. Does anyone else have any other info about this rear parcel shelf "crackling" that others have been complaining about? I haven't heard about this issue yet.
Thanks!

I haven't heard of anyone having an issue like that with their TSX. On my accord though, I remember having a similar sound. It was because Honda didn't secure the speaker wire tightly (e.g., they let it hang a bit). It eventually developed enough slack that it could touch a stabilizer bar that goes across the trunk (underneath the rear parcel shelf). While driving, it would swing and slightly tap the stabilizer bar, causing a ticking sound.
Or perhaps a rear speaker has vibrated itself loose or blown?

Acura is aware of the rear deck ticking problem. It has to do with welds and metal to metal contact that sometimes occurs. If you check on the ********* site and look under "problems", you will see a lot of information on this topic. Best of luck to you.
