Squeaking Brakes

Since about 2000 miles or so, my brakes have been squeaking (front only, near as i can tell). I brought it in to the dealer and they resurfaced the pads. All was good for about 2 days, but the squeaking has started again. I'm bringing it back to the dealer today, but I'm not too hopeful. I'll post the results when I'm done.

Anyone else experiencing squeaking brakes on 09 TSX?

Yeah, My brake on mine squeaked from 1000 miles, and the problem still hasn't gone away, they've resurfaced the pads and then they started vibrating, they resurfaced them again and now it pulls to the left when i brake.. its been a nightmare really, and now they're attempting to tell me my warranty was up at 12000 miles on my brakes, and even though this issue has been happening pretty much from day one, that its something i'll have to pay for now.. kinda a bitch, but I've had them fix them 2 more times since they told me that and I have yet to pay >.< Of course my car has 20,000 miles on it and I've had it for a little over 6 months. I'd say my experience with the car its self has been hell when it comes to service and maintaining the vehicle, but thats because all of my problems have happened all in a consolidated amount of time since i drove 20k miles in 6 months. I've had a lot of issues with the brakes, the back up camera, the steering, and the paint its self. The car it self though is amazing and I dont' regret buying it at all, I just wish I hadn't drove it so much so quick >.< Women

Glad to hear i'm not alone

Well they replaced my brake pads today (free of charge) and so far so good. I'll let you know if the problem comes back (and I'll certainly let Acura know as well!)

This is a comon issue on all years of TSX. I think the only solution is running a aftermarket pad, like Hawks or EBC.

my Pfleuger Acura Dealer "tightened" my breaks up and it worked fine. the only thing is...your acura tsx brakes are gonna ride "hard" when you press down for 2 weeks but the squeakiness disappears.

you just wasted the money asking the dealer to resurface it..@@

Get a After-market rotor, and it'll be done.

squeeky brakes are caused by the ammount of metal compound found in the pads, OE pads usualy have a higher amount of metal in the pads, causing them to squeek faster then other pads like Hawks and EBC, more of an organic or race compound will wear slower and give you more response, same with the rotors, dont resurface them, the pads and rotors mate to one another, if you simply resurface them your not fixing the problem just prolonging them and even making it worse, when they resurface they put the rotors on a lathe, taking metal from the rotor and making it weaker, so buy better after market ones and do it your self its not hard and youll learn something about your car to

All,
I had mine in just after 7k (for the first oil change), and the brakes had been squealing since almost after just a month. They (the service manager) said they were going to "turn" the rotors but decided (because it was better for the car) to replace them instead. Of course, I was happier with that decision. Now at 14k they still squeal and have since about 2 weeks after they replaced the rotors.

After reading this thread I think maybe I will not ask them to look into it again and just go out and get some better pads like it's been suggested here. Sad thing is, now I think the squeaking rotor is warped. Oh well, chalk one up for the certified mechanics at the dealership. God I'm glad we have them to depend on, aren't you?.

Question Squeaking brakes on 2009 TSX

I purchased a 2009 TSX in April 2008. I have 29K miles on the car and to this point I have had no problems. Two weeks ago my rear breaks began to squeak. I first thought it strange that I would need new brakes at 29K and even stranger that it could possibly be the rear. I took the car to the dealer to have the brakes checked.
When the Assistant Service manager returned to give me the verdict, he asked me if I had driven with the emergency brake on. I immediately said no! I knew where he was heading. He began to explain, my front brakes had 80% (8MM) pad remaining, while my rear brakes were shot with only 1MM of pad remaining.
From many years of driving and servicing cars, this is the first time my rear brakes had to be replaced before the front.

After a couple days of research, the Assistant Service manager called me to let me know that there was a design change in the brakes and to expect to have the rear brakes wear out before the front. I'm having a hard time believing that!

Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

With the front brakes handling the majority of the braking load, shouldn't they be the first to go? I know they have in any other car I have owned.

Ron, I had this problem recently too. I searched and found that the rear brakes on the TSX go out a lot faster than the fronts, and typically between 30K and 50K miles. Some say it is because of the brake proportioning valve, but I'm inclined to think it is because the pads are so tiny. I just replaced them myself with EBC Red Stuff pads and I'm extremely happy with them. I just did the rears and will get around to the fronts the next time I replace the rears in another 40K miles. I ordered them from autoanything.com with bing cashback.

Thank you for the feedback. The service manager did say the rear brakes would wear quicker than the front because they were smaller. However, I believe that’s typical in most vehicles, because of the front end handling most of the braking force. I think I’ll also replace the pads with a new set of EBC Red Stuff pads and monitor their wear. Thanks again, for the information!
