Product review: Progress Rear Sway Bar
I have had this progress 22mm rear sway bar by progress installed on my chassis roughly 1.5 months at this point, and feel that I can give an opinion on the piece without being giddy from intial install/feel of the product.
First up, I bought it from Marcus at heeltoe, really like the guy, would like to buy more stuff from him in the future. Marcus was so helpful, when I had to buy a drill to drill out the subframe for the larger bolts for the bushing mount points Marcus happily helped point me in the right direction to purchase the correct drill size. This is what they call exceptional customer service. Other vendors, please take note.
Second, the piece appears to be of good quality, nice coating on the piece will hopefully prevent corrosion, etc.
Install on the bar was not overly difficult, however since my car was up in the air, we just popped the exhaust off the rubber mounts making install very easy. The bar was set with the OEM end links, and was set to the "stiff" setting.
Initially, it seems totally different, and "awesome". HOWEVER, as with all mods, you become acclimated to the change, and the car just IS... So... my impressions will be what it's like after having bar on for 1.5 months and have become used to it's existence.
First off, the leaning during turns in the back is greatly reduced, and confidence is increased. Taking sweeping turns, and nice angled turns is considerably more fun. Definetly worth purchase.
Down side is this: this sway bar makes the rest of the suspension feel not nearly as capable. The sway bar has made me want a suspension setup, but not just springs though. I want a tuned spring/dampener setup, or a super street style setup from tein.
So, now I am have to play the waiting game on suspension manufacturer's.
Patience is a virtue.

I was looking at this yesterday. You have to do some drilling?

no... the CU2 chassis you have to enlarge the holes in the subframe to run the larger bolts that hold the bushings to the subframe.
I do not believe the CL7/CL9 chassis requires this modification.

no drilling, but I'd recommend new bushings, as mine squeaked over speed bumps

It does help, but after awhile you get used to it.

The holes are already there, you're only drilling to make them a bit bigger to accomodate the larger bolts that the RSB comes with... it really shouldnt deter you from getting the RSB, especially if its as big an upgrade as it is in the 1st gen. My car handles much better on turns and it is as noticable to me today as it was when I installed it over a month ago.

Yeah, the holes are not too bad, I painted the raw metal with spray paint let it sit for awhile, to help prevent rusting.
