im not positive on this but if/when the knock sensor shits the bed wont it not let vtec open? i believe this is how it works with regular vtec engines not sure with i-vtec. I could be wrong all together, but if im right and you car is still opening vtec them I would cancel out the knock sensor being bad. but then again u have the CEL for the sensor..

Could also be the bad gas. was it sitting for a while? and whats the milage on your motor..
