Yea, it's been done. It's like a ghetto CAI though so not really sure the point of doing it besides saving money. I think there was a DIY about it somewhere on here or azine. If you really want that I would just buy a CAI personally to make it look better overall. .02
Nice write up tekneek and yea it's totally dead weight and a lot heavier than one would suspect. The air sucked in is from the engine bay. It goes from there into the resonator box and then the airbox. Not sure if it gets minute outside air from the location of it but most of it, I imagine, is air from the bay. I removed my resonator a while ago thinking I would get the Icebox but I couldn't see the difference btwn that and simply removing the resonator. At least nothing that would be super noticeable on a DD so I saved $150 bucks for now lol.
I removed mine when I removed the bumper to mess with my fog lights and it was definitely easier, to me at least, than taking off the tire and not removing the bumper. Overall, took me about 15-20 mins to find all the bolts that needed to be removed and then take out all the pieces and put my car back together again.
