Just a little intro...
My most recent project was to create a unique, custom set of fog lights that used projectors instead of reflector housings like our cars currently do and be extremely durable. I was sick and tired of my fogs cracking; I went through an ebay set in 3 weeks which cracked on the highway from rocks. I then paid the overpriced fee to get authentic password:jdm fogs and even lamin-x'ed, only to have them crack too, only from the inside because password:jdm neglected to mention the bulbs they include can run so hot they crack the lenses from the inside!! I bought 3000k HID fogs to help the heat issue and that seemed to work. However, light output didn't seem that much more improved although the light were now stronger, but they were scattered all over the place.
I took my project to HID Illusionz in Brooklyn, NY which retrofitted a new set of ebay fogs with lexus es300 fog projectors. These guys were recommended because they were small enough to fit in our fog lights. Additionally, I had to switch to H3 bulbs. The retrofit cost $170 including labor, and they replaced the lenses with lexan. Tonight I swapped out my password:jdm fog lights with help from fellow TSXclub member gmchu, and we tested it out together comparing his 07 tsx with fogs to mine.
The conclusion, the projectors are intense. They amplify the light output for the fog lights to an insanely blinding level. We ran into difficulty adjusting the cut off as the retrofit seemed to inadvertently disable our ability to adjust the cut off. The cut off is now about an inch above the headlight cut off. It definitely blinds any car in front at a 2 car length distance. But I'm not going to be an a$$hole and run them anyways while I'm driving. Probably only if I'm the only car on the road or if it's raining real hard I'll turn my fogs on for now. I'm definitely working on a fix for this though so I can use my fogs anytime.
Without further ado...Enjoy!
