I think your decision should come down to whether you're comfortable with doing this mod. As with any mod, there is a risk; as someone had previously told me before.
However, from my personal experience, it has been a positive experience overall. There is some drawbacks as I have indicated, but overall I think it's a positive for me in terms of sportier sounding intake and an increase response with a K&N filter.
What I've found is if you're doubting about a mod, research it and if you're still having doubts afterward don't do it.
