HELP : Dealer problem

hi everyone, this is just kind of a question i had and i don't have a background with buying cars, so i thought i would ask here. I Bought a black acura tsx like a month ago. I bought it for 15k out the door. They told me at the time that the registration would be covered till sometime in 2010, and gave me a temporary registration. and i would get the sticker in the mail.

SOOO... they called today and said that they got my plates and stuff from the DMV and that i have to pay them 200 something dollars. I was amazed because i thought they were gonna cover it. but i guess not. and now they want me to pay at least half, or he's gonna return the registration and i have to go and do it myself. What do you guys think? should i pay the 100 and just get my registration, or should i keep tryna fight him for it.

i say just pay it unless you got it in writing. always get your stuff in writing when you're dealing with financial stuff like buying a car.

offtopic: you go to UCD? you should come through the next sac meet you have.

Find out from the DMV what it would cost to register the car for the time the dealer said it would cover and double check your paperwork. See if there is a spot that shows exactly how much they spent on registration.

If there isnt anything in writing you much just be SOL. Never take a dealers word for anything. Get it on paper.

I'm assuming you must have bought your car at a private owned lot and not an actual Acura dealer. However, you should have a purchase order or buyers order that you signed when purchasing. On all buyers order there is a space for regisration/tag fees. Look and see if they had something on the buyers order then if so I would fight it. However, if you don't have anything in writing then just pay the 100 its not worth the hassle.

In your paperwork if you paid for title and tags it will say it. So review everything you re charged for in the paperwork which if they registered it for you should include tax tag and title fee if you already paid for it. If the only thing on there is the price you paid for your car then it was not covered and them paying half is not a bad deal.

OK, here is the deal. What ever state you purchased the car in should have had the dealer fill out a title transfer application. On that form you there should be and area for the registration, the lot where you purchased it should have everything filled out as far as the exact fees etc that they paid, it is highly unlikely that they can send the deal back through the DMV. I have worked at and owned several dealerships in two different states over the past 15 years and we are not able to send anything back to the DMV. I think they are probably just trying to strongarm some more cash from you. Call you DMV tag agency and tell them whats going on, or at least threaten the dealership that you will do that. And as far as the guy talking about a private dealership versus a Acura dealership which is called a franchise dealership which are generally more shady, we are all held ny the same laws big or small.
