White Bear Acura Dealers and Finance

The dealer was pretty cool, but the Finance guy was an asshole. i got my 06 TSX with 58K miles on it for $16000. Finance guy... he forced me to buy warranty, something that i didnt want because ill be doing mods to my car. well he said that its stupid to mod a TSX and he purposely printed out a sheet of paper telling me that i must sign the paper because its mandatory.

i signed the paper, gave it back to him. i looked at the paper again and there was a warranty was a 3 year 40k miles for $1900. i didnt realize he put the warranty on it and unfortunately i got the warranty. he printed out another piece of paper and the car was total $18000!

so i was like, hey i dont want the warranty, and he looked at me like i was stupid. he told me that if i dont get warranty ill be paying everything for the car when i bring it to the shop. well it was my first time buying a car, and i dont know shit. so i agree, went back home, my brother told me that the warranty for $1800 was too much. went to credit union, bought theirs for $1500(Much cheaper than that crap dealer).

i went back to the dealer, paid my loan off for the car, and rejected his warranty. i didnt wanna laugh, i was pissed off at the finance guy, he kept telling me their warranty was better, he kept lowering the price. but i refused, he got mad, he was challenging me to buy his warranty, it lasted for 45 minutes of me keep on saying no.

i went home, drove the car home, looked at the fuel gauge and it was below 1/4. so, i got kinda pissed off, didnt realize that they did NOT refuel my car, the next day, we went back to the dealer, i looked at the gauge and the gauge was FULL!? my wife had to go get gas for the car, well there goes the free-refill.. -_-

i only have one alarm key, i didnt realize the car came with 2 sets of alarms after i read the manual, so.. anyway i went back to the dealer, asked them if the car had 2 alarm keys, they said they will check. 5 minutes later they said it only came with 1 alarm key. well, what a joke.

1st time buying a car from a dealer, and my experience, was pretty good with the dealer, but with the finance guy, i was pretty much pissed off at him. anyone who looks at me in a stupid way, and forcing me to buy something that i dont want, will never give me good experience.

Congrats on a good purchases, and a great car. Seems like 06's have the least problems. On the other hand, you must read EVERYTHING before you sign. I know its hard to do with the excitement of buying a new car (or used) but chalk it up as lesson learned. Happens to all of us at one time or other. Just ask all the congressmen that sign all the bills with out reading them.

Have fun and enjoy the car.

. . . assuming your car is new (I'm not familiar w/ the policies of a certified one). If it's a used car, it's one of those things you might want to ask ahead about, and if it only has one key then you might want to request that it come with the entire set of keys ahead of time as part of the deal.

Fuel issue - you should have checked at the dealership before you headed home - but I guess maybe in your excitement you forgot to check. I understand that it may have been overlooked by the dealer at the time of delivery, but your wife filled up the tank already, so it'd be hard to go back and try to negotiate a tank with them. If anything, give your salesman a call and bring it to their attention, but just leave it at that. If they offer you a tank at a later time out of goodwill, then even better.

You're never "forced" to buy anything - no one has you or your family at gunpoint telling you to sign the dotted line for an extended warranty. If you felt he was pushy or an a-hole, speak with the general manager or walk away.

Assuming that the extended warranty he was offering you is the Acura Care one, it might have been a good buy compared to the aftermarket one your credit union offered you depending on the terms - (for example, the Acura Care one you had gotten might have an $0 deductible compared to other aftermarket warranties), etc, - but I don't know the exact terms and conditions of the warranties you were offered in your case so I can't comment much on that.

In the end, you got the car you wanted - sorry to hear that the finance guy was pushy and dampened the whole experience, but the important thing is that you're happy, and you'll be happy for a long time with the car. Enjoy it!
